Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Sponsor

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1991 Camaro Z-28

Summary:
This is a clever pager with lots of cool features like memory for the last four violations at the push of a button. It also doesn't just page you then go dark again, it keeps blinking until you retrieve the page. It is a nice feature also that you have the option to choose between audible or vibrating alert, good for when you are in the court for tickets..../o: It comes in handy when you are away from you car, especially if you have an external antenna like I do. Then you have up to a 2 mile range. The call-A page feature is nice also so your g/f who is waiting in your car can page you to hurry up or to get your attention.

Strengths:
Integration with Alpine Security Systems and accessories is very simple and you can do some "trick" things with them as well. Versatile and user friendly. Very easy to program and works with almost any alarm that has a trigger out. Nice appearance in a small package.

Weaknesses:
Transmitter range sharing the radio antenna is not that great. An external antenna is a must have and that's one more antenna on the outside of your vehicle, along with your cellular and radio antenna, now your vehicle looks like a cop car. I agree with some of the other reviews, there are a lot of codes, too many to remember what's what. I can rememer the first for major ones, after that they start changing colors and blinking in different multiples, ok now I'm lost. Improvements could be an LCD display screen on the pager for more accurate monitoring and an external antenna output on the pager transmitter that can be hidden in your headliner. Something like what SEA-8081 Security System has. Can I get an Amen?

Seth - you''re a tit. The pager "module" has an output to raise the "electronic, motorized antenna"

Strengths:
Integrates nicely with the Alpine alarm system.

Weaknesses:
-Uses only 4 LEDs for display. -Not very small -Price is a bit steep for such a lame display

Review 4 of 4

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1991 CRX Si

Summary:
I don't know what Seth is talking about. If you actually own one of these, you'll check the reference grid to easily see what sensor is being violated. It's pretty much idiot proof, though an LCD that shows exactly what's going on could take it a step further. Being able to know exactly which sensor is violated gives me peace of mind, because I know if it's a true intrusion or not. I'd recommend this to anyone that has an Alpine security system. However, it's a great add-on that's also compatible with other security systems (two channels only, though).

Strengths:
Easy to read. Nice looks (for a four year old product). "Call-A" paging feature is cool since people waiting for me in my car can page me when they want to. Also, I can discretely find out if anyone is standing next to my car without the car chirping at them. All sensors that are monitored by my Alpine security system are reported to the SEC-8205 pager.

Weaknesses:
Range is ok. I'd like to see an LCD pager from Alpine to make it even easier to read.
