from Digital City Year / Model Reviewed: 1991 Integra GS 4dr Summary: AWESOME. Ok so I decided to go a little ape sh** this month. Went on a little vacation and won enough to get the HU I wanted; Alpine CDA-9815. In my old CRX I got an Alpine SWR-1241d sub in a sealed box. I was stupid and spent too much on the dang sub so I got a Kenwood 7A29c 600w 2 ch. This amp is not "bad" so please don't get me wrong.
So my car at the time blows up, now no car and a system.
Anyways, I got my deck installed in my newer car and sure enough this just made me want to go all the way around. In my limited knowledge of car audio components I was looking for MA Audio, Alpine, AudioBahn. I don't know why JL didn't come to thought. So after some long talk with the installer at Dig City he kept pushing me towards cheaper components trying to get me to save my money *blah* (I wanted to spend it). After going over all the specs for my sub and what options I had I was left looking at about a 200$+ difference for the JL in comparison to the other mediocre will push my sub OK amps.
I talked myself into it and I got the JL. I LOVE IT.I have not heard it skip a beat, only when I screwed up the Xover.
One IMPORTANT thing to mention. I like bass but as some others are like me, I like to feel it, I like to hear my music clean.
This lil 250/ SMASHES any other amp I have heard in regards to clarity. Now mind you if you are 4 cars back from me and I dont have the backseat dropped and all the windows open you are more than likely not going to hear me. However for the people inside my cab we get the best sounding everything. I put on any music and this JL just eats it up and pumps it back out.
GET ONE! If you like clewan solid bass coming from just about whatever sub you might have check out the JL/'s. If all you care about is your bass thumping enough that people on the 3rd floor of buildings can feel your bass then look into a nice Xover and some powerful cheap amps. Its going to work great. However if you like to enjoy your music and of course still have it loud enough your ears bleed then JL might just be the one for you. Strengths: Clean Amplification, Excellent Clarity, Constant 250w RMS *truth*, Ooutputs for your next one when you want that ridiculous bass ppl on 3rd floors can feel it. Excellent control over the filters and clean solid look for those of you with your amp where people can see them. Weaknesses: Price when you are buying it. Once the amp is in powering a decent sub you will find a way to forget about the price Similar Products Used: Kenwood 600 (now powering my front components), MA Audio (friends civic), Phoenix Gold (Friends).
