This has got to be the best amp ever!!! What I don't understand is how everyone is buying all these high wattage amps and spending crazy amounts of money on multiple amp setups with no quality. I have this amp driving a $550 set of mb quart 6 1/2" speakers in the front with good quality Clarion tweets. In the rear I have Pioneer 6 1/2" 3-way. For bass I have a high quality Viper 10" subwoofer that pounds. Bridged at 2ohms stereo. Definetley best, most versatile, impressive, not enough to say about amp I've ever tried!!!

Weakness:

speaker and wire terminals, they could be a lot bigger

i've had this amp running, every kind of speaker and or subwoofer you can think of from 2' tweeters to 15' mmats juggernaughts, or ground zero's for over ten years. there is no amp out there this versitile, very very underated. they retail for around 450.00 which is crazy but i've seen them on ebay really cheap. this amp is like fine wine it gets better with age. do not buy if you want your nieghbors running for cover, buy if you want tight, clean, crisp sounding music. sure my son will put in hibbity wibbity music and i think its gonna blow my taillights out, but i explain to him its all about clairity, not constant booming loudness, thats what the monoblocks are for.

Strength:

power, ease of conversion from old amp, easy to understand directions, technical support team, NO NEON OR UNNEEDED LIGHTS. I praise ADS for remembering that this is a amp and not a toy!

Weakness:

a bit pricey

I have a very old Ph-15 that this amp replaced. So the Bar was already set pretty high. This amp not only reached the bar but it surpassed it. very quiet, just the right amount of power(I listen to mostly Jazz), perfect size.

Strength:

Many strengths: - very quiet operation - very clean power - extensive crossover system - very versatile - the best sounding amp I've ever used

Weakness:

I don't care much for the adapters that I had to attach my wires to; it can be hard to fit decent gauge wires in there.

This is definately the best and most versitile amp I have ever installed or used! a/d/s/ provides crystal clear power- don't let the low ratings fool you! A bit pricey but worth every penny. I ran an a/d/s/ 5.25" component set with the first 4 channels (1 channel per speaker) and the last 2 channels were driving 2 2ohm 10" Kicker XPLs. Everything ran perfectly without the amp ever overheating or any audible distortion at all.

PRICE !!!!

System Summary:
1&2 to a/d/s 235 is components
3&4 to factory rear NOKIA
5&6 bridged to a/d/s A10s sub in 1 cu ft sealed enclosure

The amp was capable of driving the a/d/s components loud..no distortion. My rear factory NOKIA were on the verge of giving out (I have them turned down via head unit level..going to change them whenever I get some money).
The power to the sub was incredible. Very tight !!! I would highly recommend getting Monster Cable Micro XLN RCA cable, they're worth the money!! No hum,no noise. I would also recommend a head unit with HPF cutoff adj for FRONT & REAR to go along with the builtin EQ.
I am not sure on the current draw to see if you would need a inline CAP or not. I don't play my system loud enough to make a difference. This amp highly recommended for audiophile looking for clarity and brillance in a 6 channel mode.

Flexibility, power, and size

Weakness:

Excellent amp had Sony and Soundstream that were stollen. Replaced 2 amps and seperate xover with on this amp. The amp is very clear and unlike the previous review i have had no problem with engine noise and power on thump. Those are usually properties of bad wiring and install. Have had this amp in 3 cars with no problems. Its small size allows me to mount it under seat without overheating. The amp has never cut out for anything. 4x40 to the front blew away a sony 2x75 and Soundstream 2x60, not even close. The crossover is better than any other amp made.

Strength:

Flexibility. Power?

Weakness:

Audible turn on/off noise, cosmetically not the nicest amplifier in the world, paint chips relatively easy. Misleading labels on the output selectivity - the stereo/mono/bridge switch contradicts the intended purpose (bridge is actually mono, make sense?).

Amplifier configuration:
Channels 5&6 bridged to 120w (front left 336is)
Channels 3&4 bridged to 120w (front right 336is)
Channels 1&2 stereo to 2x40w (rear set of 6x9's)
The amplifier was configured in this fashion to maintain independent HP Xovers point on front and rear speakers.

I used no instructions because I THOUGHT the labels on the amp were quite intuitive. Upon power up, the first thing I noticed was the power on thump. Normally I wouldn't care about this but realize I came from Class A Soundstreams, which were absolutely silent during turn on/off. I also knew that the older series a/d/s/ amps had on/off noises but figured that they would have resolved that problem by now since at least 10 years and several generations have gone by. Music sounded satisfactory (hard to tell without A/B) with the car OFF. Need I say more? The engine noise was so intense, it was almost unbearable. From my experience, it sounded as though the outside shield of an RCA had been grounded. After days of painful trouble shooting, I discovered that the RCA's in the amp were shorted to ground (DMM). I wasn't about to waste time with the a/d/s/ warranty so I took the bottom plate off and behold! No more short. To this day, I couldn't figure out what was causing the short but the bottom plate and screws are insulated. No more noise.

I'm satisfied with the quality and power. If you can tolerate the on/off thumps then it is a good amplifier; unfortunately, I can't. I'm already looking into either a Soundstream or Monolithic.

I think I'm being generous by giving a 3 for an overall rating because a person who doesn't install for a living would've never tolerated the engine noise caused by the shorted RCA. The turn on/off thumps are also unacceptable, especially for a name brand like a/d/s/.

If properly working this amp is pretty darn flexible. I think a "normal" person would be more than satisfied to have this one amplifier run his/her whole satellite subwoofer system, hence the 4 for value.

Strength:

Flexibility, CLEAN sound, underrated output, great crossover

Weakness:

requires careful and thorough install, not a mega-watt amp

I love this amp. If there is an on/off thump, I've never noticed it (doubtful). It is so clean pushing my polk EX components and coaxs, it's absolutley stellar. It is the perfect amp for almost any car to run the whole system, especially if your priority is sound quality. I have 44x4 going to the satellites and 5-6 bridged to 120 on my single 12 and with the top up, it sounds fantastic. I wouldn't buy another amp to replace it unless it were a (bigger) McIntosh. Once properly adjusted (that did take some time with the crossover and my EQ) it doesn't clip at all. If I wanted more volume, I would buy a quality 1/2 channel to run my sub and run 120x2 to the fronts and 44x2 for the rears. But it sounds great as is. You cannot go wrong with a/d/s if installed meticulously. Could be cheaper but I'm willing to pay for quality.

Strength:

Audio Clarity and lack of noise

Weakness:

instructions were not the best.
No dealer in my area

Using it with two sets of 344is (have loved/used a/d/s since early 80's - remember 320i's and P100 power plates?) and a pair of fosgate mid bases (pretty lame speakers).

This is probably the quietest amp I've ever had. Absolutely NO hiss or rumble at "0" volume level, no engine noise, no thump when powering up either (which seems to be a problem for some). It's just amazingly clear.

The output is just about perfect for the 344is's and overdrives the fosgates a bit.

Crossover setup is sweet as it is extremely tuneable to match the components being driven.

Don't know how much reserve power it would have for larger subs - would be my only reservation with the amp.
