Price Paid:
$300.00
from Retail specialty sto Year / Model Reviewed: 2002 APX600.5 Strengths: Outstanding sound quality....even at pretty loud volume (remember, the 4 channels are only rated at 35X4 RMS, but It'll have you fooled that it's alot more). Weaknesses: None experienced at this time. Summary: The price I paid for this came out to about $300 (part of a package deal), and
I have been nothing but impressed with this amp.
The salesman stated up front that 'I am not a big fan of Clarion amps, but I know for a fact the sound quality of this one is outstanding'...boy he was right! I have it connected to a 3 pre-out Clarion CD deck (Pro Audio), Clarion 6-inch component fronts, and Clarion ProAudio coax 6x9 rears in a 2000 Neon. The bass tube has a 10-inch Punch that I got from a friend for $50.
Somehow this system just works in this car, and I really can't imagine it sounding much better considering I only invested about $1100 for everything.
The imaging, depth and clarity is absolutely 1st rate in my opinion...and I'm pretty hard to please when it comes to sound. But, since the amp does have alot of built-in crossover adjustments and other fine-tunings, one must know what their doing to get the best sound out of it. I happen to buy mine from a dealer who was familiar with tuning Clarion amps. I've had it for about a year now and have experienced no problems with it as of yet. Similar Products Used: Have not tested any other 5 channel amp.
