Review 1 of 10

Price Paid:  $300.00 from American TV and Appl

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002 Kicker KX400.2

Summary:
I bought this amp after my old Logic Soundlab amp blew up pushing my 2 Audiobahn ALUM12's. I bought this on open box special at american and i have it running at 3 ohms a channel in stereo and this amp is beatin' loud. Still turning heads and it never over heats. i drove from milwaukee to la crosse about a 3 and a half hour drive pounding the whole time, and it was just warm. not hot, just warm. this is by far not the first amp i have used or heard, but definately one of the better ones. i suggest this amp to anyone that is looking for some beats at a decent price.

Strengths:
design, look, the happiness of seeing the birth sheet saying it puts out more than advertised(always a bonus) and the name to back up the product. you say kicker and everone knows what you are talking about.

Weaknesses:
wish it was 2 ohm stable in mono

Review 2 of 10

Price Paid:  $275.00 from Norton's

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002 Kicker KX400.2

Summary:
Well this is a great amp no matter what anyone says. I've been into audio for a good long while now - mostly home audio until now - but earlier this year I bought this amp and 2 CompVR 12s. In my SUV, it shakes everything including myself. I can have the gain all the way up and the bass boost at 12dB and the volume over half on my headunit and its distortion free... although I'm my ears are going to start distorting. This amp never gets hot. It never even gets warm and I've got it way in the back where there is never any AC. And for the price I paid (from an authorized dealer), there is nothing better. (Except maybe for the Kicker XS50 I'm fixing to replace it with.) My birth sheet says 456 watts at 4 ohm mono which is a little low from what I hear but it's more than I was promised. My advice: Go for it.

Strengths:
Everything. Runs cool and hard.

Weaknesses:
I wish you could drop it down to 2 ohm mono like the old ZRs. But those didn't have near the features so... Oh and lately my lights have been dimming at idle. That's new though so I think its my battery or alternator.

Similar Products Used:
None so far but I just bought a Kicker XS50 and y'all can hear from me soon on that.

Price Paid:  $399.00 from kicker catalog

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Kicker kx400.2 2002 model

Summary:
Well let me just start out by saying that I have had alot of experience in car audio, I installed an 8 track tape player in my first car a 1970 monte carlo and since then I havent looked back. I have always wondered what those car stereos that boom the rap music would sound like with some rock n roll playing. I stopped a young man outside of my house who was playing his car stereo very loud . He seemed to think i wanted him to turn it down . On the contrary I said turn it up, He gave ne a confused look and then when i explained my interest in the eqipment he was happy to oblige . He opened his trunk and showed me this kicker amp the 400.2 and I was very impressed . Then he gave me the bad news the closest dealer was over 200 miles away but luckily he gave me the website where I got the catalog and the guys at stillwater designs were more than happy enopugh to answer all of my questions . I am runnig this amp bridged with 400 watts going to a infinity kappa perfect sub and it sounds awesome . Very impressive.

Strengths:
cool operating temperatue. sexy looking

Weaknesses:
like the others have said man is it big

Similar Products Used:
too many to list all..and over the years an old guy like myself forgets the names

Review 5 of 10

Price Paid:  $389.00 from house of sound sturb

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002 kx400.2

Summary:
This is a very nice amplifier for the price it really pushes my square L5 12 incher very well. I can get the rear veiw mirror shaking beyond beleif and the sound is just pure and clean. Birth certificate that came with this amp says 494 watts into a single 4 ohm load . That must be true because the 300 watt amp that this one replaced couldnt make that L5 do half the damage its doing now. Great amp

Strengths:
very futuristic styling

Weaknesses:
Huge..almost too huge

Similar Products Used:
pioneer sony mmats jbl
