Review 1 of 9

Price Paid:  $300.00 from Car store somwhere

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Cobolt 200.4 cs

Strengths:
compact size for the type of quality sound you get

Weaknesses:
As mentioned those silly terminals. And the fact that orion will most likely never respond to your email regarding the amp, So if you want this amp don`t expect to get any assistance from the manufacturer.

Summary:
Great amp, sound imageing is perfect it is compact so you can mount it anywhere you would like.

Review 2 of 9

Price Paid:  $109.00 from Ebay

Strengths:
More boom for the buck, strong amp for deep lows. Just give it the juice and step back!

Weaknesses:
Those silly plugs! Can be worked with, but are temper-affecting for sure.

Summary:
The Orion Cobalt Series, though looked down upon originally (myself included), has become an audio work of art. This amp can make 4 sets of separates play symphonically, or (when bridged to two Kicker 12" VR Comps) make the eyes rattle in your head. I opened it up, and compared to the 'better' XTR 500.4, it is the same amp. You are paying extra money for a black case and a few more letters in the name. I currently have this pushing some Clarion Pro Audio separates in the doors of my F-150, and a CS150.2 pushing my 2-Kickers pretty hard, with no gain and my Alpine sub controls set to 0 with no bass. All in all Orion, the old, pre-DEI owned Orion, kicks major nalgas.

Review 3 of 9

Price Paid:  $400.00 from Quadrafonix

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002

Strengths:
Stereo imaging and adjustable bass boost.

Weaknesses:
None but the expected lack of power, it is small.

Summary:
I purchased the Orion not quite knowing the brand, especially in South Africa. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of this amplifier. The bass boost, which I thought was a bit of a waste is great, and using it on a JL 15W0 does a beautiful jo on the low end.

Review 4 of 9

Price Paid:  $340.00 from 2003 - 1 - 3

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Orion

Strengths:
Low cost and high performance. The slim size makes it easy to install virtually anywhere in the car.

Weaknesses:
The case colour is not appealing at all.

Summary:
Very good in overall frequency range, in particular, mid to high. I have a sub-woofer so it is a perfect match. I play West-Life CD and all sound tracks are very clear and solid. It makes 4 sets of speakers alive. Distortion and noise are not obvious. The price is definitely value for money.

Review 5 of 9

Price Paid:  $159.00 from sounddomain.com

Strengths:
Great price, good sq, excellent build quality.

Weaknesses:
Im not too fond of the graphics on the front. But oh well.

Summary:
For the price..you cannot beat this amp..bar nine. Great SQ..and has a massive amount of output for speakers.I wouldnt use this for a sub tho, but thats just cus i like a mad amount of power. For a basic system, I have no doubts that this would power a sub very well.
