Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $400.00 from pacific stereo

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002 ti400/2

Strengths:
super strong bass at 4 ohms mono low pass level control nice feature great price for performance

Weaknesses:
2 ohms mono anp turns off when pushed too hard. For all out sound qualty it is a good amp but there are a few other amps that sound better

Summary:
I just purchaced a alpine 7894 cd player and alpine 17m componet speakers alpines flag ship speakers made in denmark 800.00 list price. subs i bought were 2 titanium ti12d 12" dual 4 ohm subwoofers I need a amp to run my front sound stage so i purchaced a phoenix gold titanium ti 400/2 I visited 5 stores they all agreed the ti 400/2 would be the best audiophile amp for me. I hooked it up and was a little disapointed cause compared to my 1984 soundstream D60II (ebay worth 35.00)sounded better cleaner more air around instruments and wider soundstage. I next purchaced a planet audio 2150 tube hybread amp 150w x 2 120.00 on ebay that was the ticket ooooh so sweet. next i purchaced a sound stream rubicon class A 5.0 200.00 on ebay for the bass. with the 2 12" it was very tight and clean But lacked body and hard hitting punch. so i tryed the ti 400/2 for the bass WOW NOW THATS THE TICKET. pushing the amp very hard at 2 ohms mono with bass cds the amp got hot and thermo shut down after about 20 seconds I was pushing it very hard. Normal music it sounds exc. and does not shut off. With 1 12" on the phoenix gold amp it plays louder hits harder than the soundstream.and does not shut off. The soundstream is rated 500w mono @ 2ohms

Runs cool all the time, at any level. Ashetically eye pleasing. Hits really hard....underrated power & compact size.

Weaknesses:

Summary:
Unbelivable amp! Im running 2 12" Phoenix Gold X-max And this Amp just kills them....i mean awsome tight bass with no distortion. No matter how long or how loud i run it the amp consistantly stay amazingly cool to the touch.

Review 5 of 5

Price Paid:  $600.00

Strengths:
Stays cool, high power output and CLEAN

Weaknesses:
I'd have to be joking.

Summary:
When I first got this amp I couldn't wait to hear it and when it was all hooked to to my Eclipse 8810 DVC sub, it sounded horrible. At first I thought it was the Eclipse that sounded bad, but NO!
The Eclipse woofer ROCKS!
It later turned out that I needed a line driver for the amp and when I got it, OH MY GOD!
This amp played hours on end continous for a whole day at 80% volume and it never gave on me. I touched the amp and it wasn't even hot.
SMALL AMP, BIG KICK!
Phoenix makes alot of good stuff and the ZXTi line up is certainly one of their best.
The amp is VERY current hungry, but fed enough current this amp can do some VERY amazing things. I overpaid for it, but I have no regrets, it's a GREAT amp that's rock solid in performance and the cosmetics are amazing!
The blue lights are just way too cool.
I'll recommend a PG amp to anyone 7 days a week.
