Model Reviewed: Rockford Fosgate Power 551x

Strength:

Tons of good, clean power. Nice options, and a killer remote bass boost.

Weakness:

VERY expensive (~400 from most places, 250 on ebay). It also gets quite hot despite its various cooling technologies, though I've never hard any overheating problems.

This amp is a GREAT amp, especially when you try to maximize the power of a quality system. I used the 551x in bridged mode to power 2 Infinity 1230w subwoofers, and boy did those puppies POUND! This amp provides a large amount of power, variable crossover frequencies, and most importantly a REMOTE BASS BOOST. Without the bass boost on, it sounds like crap. But once you crank it up, it will shake your mirrors so much that you'll hardly be able to drive. I love this setup, but I'm currently just testing items from Crutchfield until i find the best one possible for the lowest cost. I'm going to try a Kicker KX600.1 and a Profile CL1200 next. If you'd like to get reviews on these items as well, just simply wait a few weeks and check on this site: I'll let ya know how it goes! :)
