Review 1 of 8

Price Paid:  $400.00 from HI-Fi (Now AVU)

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Rockford P400a4

Strengths:
Powerful, tough, and reliable. Will power nearly anything you hook it up to, within reason. Well designed power connectors.

Weaknesses:
Heats up alot, especially at 2 ohms (Which would be expected). Poor arrangement of power connectors and speaker connectors when looking for a 2 channel setup. Gains unmarked, no scale there.

Summary:
This is a very tough amp. Its only rated to go down to 2 ohms, but I have had it at 1 ohm and less with no troubles. Currently it is powering 2 Pioneer TS-W255C 10" subs. In 2 chan mode you are getting 200W RMS per side at 4 ohms. Also, there was a flood in my car, and the amp was 3/4 submerged in water. I dried it out and it worked perfectly. Good bang for buck.

Review 2 of 8

Price Paid:  $339.00 from Sound City

Year / Model Reviewed:
 20002

Strengths:
Clean, accurate and powerful. Good value. Excellent X-overs.

Weaknesses:
Manufactures defect - intermitent left channel hum on 3 units. Will never purchase a RF amp again. Replaced with Pheonix Gold Titanium series amps.

Summary:
Very good power, excellent X-overs, good value for the money. BUT...I had to replace it 3 times already! Each time it produced intermittent loud hum from the front left channel. This happened with 2 different cars of mine each with a completely new stereo system (except for the amp) and wiring. Even with the engine turned off and no RCA connected. Swapped the speaker wires and and the sound still came from the same side of the amp (now the right speaker). Traded in for Pheonix Gold Titanium amps.

Similar Products Used:
Now using Pheonix Gold Titanium 400 amp. Also owned (and thankfully had it stolen) a Pioneer GMH-100 amp and an MTX. Only the PG so far is better than the RF.

Price Paid:  $350.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001 Punch 400a4

Strengths:
Power for Subs

Weaknesses:
It´s underrated, I think about 60 or 70 RMS x4

Summary:
A great amplifier!! I used some cheap amplifiers before, but, now on, nothing but RF, Alpine or Eclipse. I had the 400.4 and I drive 2 12" sub on 2 ohms, y really kicks, but it get hot nicely... Very good product, a great choice, specially for Subs.
