Review 1 of 10

Price Paid:  $150.00 from 2001 audio video

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 sony xm 1502sx

Strengths:
looks nice, sounds alright for the money about 100us now

Weaknesses:
Made by sony, not that good a car stereo company, and the defect with all of them, yes it is in all of them, call sony to find out.

Summary:
I bought this amp thinking i was getting 760 watts. Not true, but it sound good. I read some idiot said it couldn't run 2ohm, but he must be stupid, and have it running mono. I t can only run at 2 ohm in stereo mode. Do not try to run 2 dvc subs running at 2 ohm each to left and right, as the amp is wired in parrallell internally, so two 4 ohm subs hooked up to left and right makes the amp see a 2 ohm load. It pounds my two shi@#y jensens (175rms) 12 inch like there is no tommorrow. Not comp ready but sounds good, i'd guess about 115 to 120db. there is a flaw in these amps which makes them shut off in protection, if it under warrenty send it to sony or take it back and they will put a mod kit in it for you, since i did that, i have had no problems. i am gonna buy the p5 500RMS amp next, cause it is cheep, and i know how this one sounds, so that one should be enough to show up all my buds, and i should hit 130 or above with new subs, probally audiobahn aw121t flames.

Similar Products Used:
jensen, rockford, mtx, kicker, as far as i am concerned kicker is overpriced garbage, and rockford is the way to go.

Review 2 of 10

Price Paid:  $120.00 from Best Buy

Year / Model Reviewed:
 XM-1502SX

Strengths:
Works sometimes.

Weaknesses:
Shuts off at high volumes.

Summary:
This is not a very satisfactory amp. I bought it a while back, and hooked it up to a Rockford Fosgate HE 12", and I recently purchased two new Sony Xplod P5's, the five sided subs. The amp shuts off when I turn it up to high volumes, and doesn't work well with lots of power. It's alright with small systems, I guess, but if you care at all about car audio, this is not for you.

Review 3 of 10

Price Paid:  $200.00 from nex

Year / Model Reviewed:
 sony xm1502xs

Strengths:
cheap

Weaknesses:
It isn't 2 ohm stable but states that it is!

Summary:
Well it is supposed to be 2 ohm stable and really isn't. I have it running a Rockford HE2 12 and it is in parallel. Yeah I can only get the volume up halfway before it goes into protection... crap!

punch, kenwood, etc

Review 4 of 10

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Circut City

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Sony XM 1502SX (2001 model?)

Strengths:
Bass boost is nice & low at 40Hz, not up at 60Hz (which is worse than useless if you have decent equipment). Good feature set for the money.

Weaknesses:
Low bass (30-35Hz) just isn't there; case is too big and flashy.

Summary:
I'd rate this amp just fair. It just does not have the low end power of the old Kenwood which it replaced. The bass boost helped, but too much boost makes the bass sounds really boomy. I'm put off by the bright red & chrome color, ( I just want SQ, not a Christmas decoration) and it's way bigger than some other amps with more output. The controls & hookups are under a lip which makes them really hard to reach, no matter how you install it. One the plus side, the filters and boost all seem to work, and I've have no trouble with it. It's running 2 10" "Patriot" woofers, & a set of Polk components. Mid & treble sound is clean
