Review 1 of 7

Price Paid:  $550.00 from Future Shop(canadian

Summary:
Thats 550$CND, about 420$ american. Well I dont know how everyone else gets this stuff sooo cheap, I feel like i got ripped off. But its been my first amp and its still pushing hard. everyone talks about it shutting off, it hasnt shut off on me once, and i've beaten this thing for over a year now. I'm pushing two Pioneer 12"(TS-W304C) in the back of my Buick and it makes the trunk rattle like he11. http://www.sounddomain.com/id/91sabre Check it out the custom trunk.

Strengths:
I was skeptical about Sony at first but this amp really puts out. Perfect for entry levelers. 1000watts rms X 1@1ohm--I have yet to test that.

Weaknesses:
Too expensive, but thats Canada for you, nothings cheap.

Review 3 of 7

Price Paid:  $150.00 from sony store in grove

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002

Summary:
I had this amp for about 3 months before it got fried. It doesn't sound too bad WHEN IT ACUALLY STAYS ON!! but the thermal overload is nuts!!! The amp turns off uncontrolably! You'll be cruising around bumpin and all of a sudden it will hit a hard low and shut off..not good and I'm sorry but NOT ANY HIGH POWERED AMP WILL SHUT OFF!!! A truly low ohm stable amp will stay on. and these amps don't shut off because they are overheated they shut off because there is being to much current being drawn from them. this is not good at all..YOU WANT MORE CURRENT FROM AN AMP... this amp is truly for the ghetto trunk lid rattlers that don't give a shat about spl or high sq... nuff said

Strengths:
it was cheap... the warranty was easy

Weaknesses:
thermal overload kicks in at WAY TO LOW OF A LEVEL, sq is not great and it draws quite a bit of power now that i think of it...

Similar Products Used:
mmats d100hc (A TRUE AMP THAT NEVER SHUTS OFF) rockford fosgate he 12", soundstorm 800 watt(even this pos didn't shut off and sq was better than sony)audiobahn ax1200q(these bad boys hit fairly well)

Review 4 of 7

Price Paid:  $220.00 from Future Shop (canadia

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001

Summary:
Great for the low, low price of only $160. It actually does the wattage its rated for (the MOSFET power helps with that no other Sonys had it at this time) and its not peak wattage either (like the 760 watt)... it also has extremely low THD (<0.05%) and a capable low-pass filter (variable from 50Hz-300). Tremendous amp for the cost... it really wants to save itself though if you subs clip for more then 5-10 seconds straight it will go into thermal shutdown, just restart your car and it goes back to normal. Used driving two Rockford Punch Z 10's (silver cone 200w RMS each) at 2 ohms for 600 watts between the two subs. They blow... all the time. It is a budget amp after all.

Strengths:
1,000 watts of power for only $160 0.05% at 1 ohm for only $160 Speaker cable inputs for the poor Nice silver & red colour scheme

Weaknesses:
It's... a Sony. Weak brand name.

Similar Products Used:
Rockford 200M (too expensive for worse SQ and bad current draw), JBL 200 (crap), JL 500x1 & W6's (stolen!)

Review 5 of 7

Price Paid:  $200.00 from My peoples

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001

Summary:
It's got plenty of power if hooked up right and if u want nice shove for the price then thats the deal cuz my's rattle my trunk and no problems so far after a year so just get it hooked up right and u will bang.

Strengths:
Good power.Right up there with punch power and its a good buy if u got a budget for your system and dont want to spend to much but still pound whatever sub's.

Weaknesses:
Might kick off sometimes but not that much and if it does u can just cut the deck off and back on it will come but any powerful amp gone cut off if it's been workin for a period.

Similar Products Used:
Mtx,Punch,soundstream.
