Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $500.00

Strengths:
Great sound. That's pretty much what I look for in an amp. I also like the wire cover thing.

Weaknesses:
Could use some more effecient heat sinks; goes thermal a bit too quickly at very high volumes.

Summary:
Great amp. Had it a while. First on two 12's.. then on 4 12's... currently on 1 15... Soon to be on one 10". Should kick ass.

Review 2 of 5

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1999

Strengths:
Great sounding amp
Rock solid stable at 2 ohms bridged/1 ohm stereo
Great connections for all wires

Weaknesses:
Cannot disengage subsonic filter

Summary:
This is an excellent amplifier. You will not find a more musical amplifier for the money. They are quite stable at 2 ohms bridged, and I have only gotten mine to shutdown once at 2 ohms. That was on a 100 degree day when the car was in a hot parking lot for 8 hours. I then played the system at a high level for about 30-40 minuts in a traffic jam. Finally it shutdown. Pretty impressive. Highly reccomended.

Review 3 of 5

Year / Model Reviewed:
 96-99

Strengths:
This amp has quite a bit of power for its cost.

Weaknesses:
I have owned a Reference 500, 100, 10.0, and a Rubicon 702 and 1002. They seem to all have a problem dissipating their heat properly. Seem to shut down in summer weather. They also say they are bridgeable to a 1/2 ohm or even lower. This tempts the wattage freaks and they end up frying their amp. Stick with 1 ohm or higher.

Summary:
$200,$500 all different

Review 4 of 5

Year / Model Reviewed:
 99

Strengths:
Excellent power and fidelity, and clarity. The subsonic filter can be disengaged if you use hawkins bass control instead.

Weaknesses:
It's blue. 2ohm bridged draws a lot of amperage, go with a 4 ohm bridged load, for the same output but better current stability in your vehicle.

Summary:
Very good amp. Got it from crutchfield for $400, when they were getting rid of SS. Running 4 10's nicely.

Similar Products Used:
PPI 2150, which is a slight bit better.

Review 5 of 5

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1999

Strengths:
Very underrated
Awesome 2 ohms bridged/1 ohm stereo output(well over 1000 watts)
Very musical
Excellent connections and controls

Weaknesses:
Subsonic filter cannot be disengaged

Summary:
I love this amp. It's an incredibly musical amp, and a steal at it's price. The 702 puts out a ton of clean power at 2 ohms, something that isn't common in or even slightly above it's price range. The subsonic filter can be useful, but personally, I wish it could be turned off. Excellent overall.
