Price Paid:  $200.00 from From a friend

Year / Model Reviewed:
1997 DEH-P8000R

Summary:
I got this product old, and out of a box, but man, what a deck!! The features are all awesome. Nothing on this CD player is useless. Great Sounding, sturdy! Of course it is a Pioneer, so that's a dead giveaway about how great the product is. Moving away from this tho, and getting the DEHP7700MP! CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Strengths:
Everything...great EQ control, sub control, everything. Luv the graphix, altho would have loved more options

Weaknesses:
Distorts burnt CDs sometimes. Not all, but every so often. Display stops working after a while. Never been dropped, so I was suprised about that. Also, then button the the rado are rubber, so after a while they fade.

Similar Products Used:
Nothing came close to this product, but i know that the DEHP7700MP will be just as good.

Review 4 of 38

Price Paid:  $450.00 from Local Stereo Shop

Year / Model Reviewed:
1998 Pioneer DEH-P8000R

Summary:
I have put this unit through hell and high water, it has played constantly. probably more than 10,000 hours. I got it open box when the model was still fairly new to the market. I am extremely pleased with it! I have owned many a head unit in my time as an audio freak, and this deck is great! It has so many features and fine tuning abilities to make your music sound the best. clarity is my biggest need in a car stereo, and this deck has it every step of the way. Theres only a couple weaknesses that i have seen with this unit in the 5 years that i've owned it. I will never sell it. It's bound to become a family heirloom.

Strengths:
3 sets of pre-outs with the ability to turn off the sub channel. 45 watts kicks a set of 4 tweeters just right. (amps for the rest) control over every aspect of the sound quality. The standard remote is one rugged mother! I play drums on my steering wheel with it all the time, and have literally beat the living hell out of it... and it's never let me down once.

Weaknesses:
replacement of the faceplate is a big weakness. it is bad ass, dont get me wrong...but it's fragile. the rubber buttons have really worn out on me, and the EL display has completely wigged out. cant read it anymore. but thats AFTER i dropped it in the snow, and on concrete quite a few times. The replacement cost from pioneer of $322.00 OUCH!!!! i am lucky i have every function memorized.. i can do it with my eyes closed. The detachable face has fallen off in the extreme cold weather quite a few times.. it could be just worn out. i would suggest using the remote for everything possible and not removing the faceplate unless absolutely necessary. if it gets stolen, thats why we have insurance, but preserve the faceplate at all costs.

i have never used anything quite like this unit.

Price Paid:  $150.00 from ebay.com

Year / Model Reviewed:
 DEH-P8000R

Summary:
Well, first, let me start off stating that I just bought this off ebay.com and I havent gotten it yet. I read the reviews and it sounds like a really nice deck. I have a Pioneer DEH-P7200 in one of my Mustangs and the DEH-P8000R will be going in my other Mustang. I love my P7200 and I know a little bit about stereos, as well as Pioneer. So, I purchased this deck with the thought in mind that the 8000R would be a step up from a P7200. My only real question I guess is: WHAT ORGANIC IMAGES ARE ON THIS DECK??? On my P7200, I have dolphins and this thing that goes in circles. So, if any of you have any info. PLEASE EMAIL ME! mustang_tyler@hotmail.com ~TYLER~
