Strength:

Front aux input

Weakness:

Just about everything

I bought this unit because of the aux input, so as to connect my MD player. It started giving problems right from day one. The CD would start skipping after 30 minutes of operation, the control buttons would not work, defective flip-down face etc. It's amazing how a company like Aiwa can release such a lousy product into the market.

I would suggest everyone keep away from this product. I have now replaced the Aiwa with the stock tape receiver. If anyone knows of a good CD receiver with an aux input, please let me know.

Strength:

Nice H-Bass, cool display, very good sound quality, nice features, cool remote.

Weakness:

The display is a little tempermental, but works good, it does get hot when in the direct sunlight, but other than that, i cant think of anything else, not the best in the world, but far from Jensen or Pioneer.

I think this is an overall good headunit, and would reccommend it to anyone that it looking for an afforable head unit with all the features you will find in the more expencive brands. One reccommendation, have it pro installed, it will be much easier! The Aiwa customer support people were nice, and got the information for me quickly (Hold down the DSSA button for more than 2 seconds to turn the stupid demo mode off)

Strength:

It plays CDs.. Beyond that... I'm not sure

Weakness:

The quality of this unit is horrible. Everything breaks. Aiwa actually sent me this unit after I broke my old one. Horrible Horrible cd player.. Screen quit working, Eject button fell into the player, skips, randomly resets.. bad news folks. And the worst part... Aiwa Customer Service. My first unit was repaired 5 times before I had to go ballistic to get a new replacement.

Strength:

Good Bass, Decent Controls, Dual Pre-outs

Weakness:

Skips when playing home-made CD's, also when cold outside, and when hot outside. Flip down panel gets loose and half the time, when you put in a CD, you have to open and close the panel again to be able to see the display. Also, when you press a button, sometimes the display goes out.

Don't buy it, save for a Sony or a Pioneer...

I had an old Alpine unit that would not skip for anything. I replaced it because the dual illumination had gone out, and the memory circuit had gone bad. Wish I had kept it...

Everything

#1, this is the worst head unit I've ever used. I upgraded to a Clarion Pro Audio, couldn't be happier.

#2 This is my second Aiwa head unit, the first was repaired 5 times before it was replaced with this one.

#3 Aiwa has the worst customer service and support that I've ever received. I was argued with and returned to the repair shop time and time again.

Strength:

Good bass, the tuner sounds nice.

Weakness:

The clock doesn't stay on all the time. It takes awhile for the cd to start playing.

I paid $190 and I think it was worth it. I live in a cold climate and it hasn't really affected it. It does get hot during the summer but it didn't skip to much. I would say its allright and would recommend it to anyone.

Strength:

good bass amplification
looks appealing

Weakness:

slowly works worse...
if living in a cold winter climate the unit doesnt work hardly at all. will skip constantly(about every 2 seconds) until it has warmed up. and in the summer it will overheat and skip about every 2 seconds again. also it has melted a line across two of my cds while it was hot.

i paid 180$ for it and my friend who owns the same model paid 320$ for it. both our units have turned to crap. both have same problems, so u know that it wasnt just a unique occurance. i would not recommend this unit at all. me and my friend are very dissatisfied.

I GOT SCREWED. What a piece of junk. I can't believe it!
Well it was a gift in a radio contest-can't complain-except I paid $30 to install the AIWA Garbage.

Actually, I run on CD-Rs and thought the Aiwa deck couldn't read CDrs, my mistake, the decks not "Warmed Up" yet. Give it a few minutes.

What a joke.

Strength:

Sound quality, remote, bass boost, display.

Weakness:

Skips some, overheats when fed low voltage.

Very good sound quality. Does skip on rough terrain, though I have solved this problem by using higher quality cdrs. As far as heat goes, it does not seem to get hot when the engine is running. I drove an 8 hour day running a cd at a considerable volume and it did not overheat, but one day I was just bassin' in a parking lot for 30 mins or so and when I took out the CD it was really hot, as was the rest of the head unit. It has a nifty display, H-Bass works good for my 6x9s, I love the remote also. I haven't had any mechanical or integrity related problems, it always works for me. There is very little distortion at high volume, and it does get loud. The controls are easy to use, if somewhat unlabeled. Overall I like it, about to add 2 10" truck boxes behind the seat.
