Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $130.00 from eBay

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 Aiwa CDC-MP32

Summary:
This is a decent pruduct - I purchased two of them one for my wife the other for myself. we have both been happy with the product and have few problems.

Strengths:
For the price it is a fair product and I have been generally happy with the unit - there is nothing really special with it.

Weaknesses:
Has trouble some types of CDR's - I have tried several different brands. I have had better luck with the Memorex Black CDR's and the genereic ultra cheap no-mnames that are blue on the write surface. On CDR's that are difficult I have had numerous stalls and skips. I have found that slowing down burn speeds to 2X helps and sometimes ejecting and re-inserting a disc makes a big difference when it is acting up. Another irritating quirk is that occasionally the doors stick in the closed position. But after restarting the car a couple of times it works normally.

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $139.00 from Circuit City

Summary:
If you only want it to last for a year, go for it. It's great while it lasts...skip protection could be better. Let me add that the retail price of $299 or whatever is completely ridiculous for the quality of the product.

Strengths:
Look, sound

Weaknesses:
reliability, buttons wear too easily-but remote helps

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $214.00 from Crutchfield

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1990 Honda Civic EX

Summary:
Avoid at all cost! The unit skips badly, plays some mp3's and .cda songs and not others. It runs so hot that it will ruin a cdrw and after prolonged use destroys the unit itself! After that the nightmare begins with WEEKS and even MONTHS of being in a repair center with NO help from AIWA. Spend your hard earned cash on a unit from a company that doesn't sell cheaply made goods and if it does fail will help you in getting it repaired. Readers You Have Been Warned!

Strengths:
It worked for a week before the motorized door quit working.

Weaknesses:
Overpriced, out of date, cheaply made and sold with lots of hype by overstocked businesses that are trying to unload them.

Similar Products Used:
Alpine and Kenwood and one of those is what I will replace this one with and if I ever get it back after 7 1/2 weeks of waiting so far I WONT sell it because I don't want to be hated!
