Review 1 of 12

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 CDA-7850

Summary:
my unit sounds excellent i hooked it up in my gmc 3500 to 2 jbl 120 watt 2-way speakers 2 8 inch subs, one under each seat, 2 sony Xplod 9 x 6 3-way speakers with an AVI 10" sub behind the center console, and a PPI 5 Chanel 1000 watt amplifier powering it all and and it sounds killer. all the bass you could want and still all the high frequency's and midrange to make it all crystal clear

Strengths:
awesome sound control, easily adjusted, not too fancy but still great apearance

Weaknesses:
"NO TEXT" message at front

Review 2 of 12

Price Paid:  $450.00 from FEBRUARY 2000

Year / Model Reviewed:
 CDA-7850 ALPINE

Summary:
EXCELLENT EQUIPMENT, I MATCH THIS ONE TO ERA-G320 (DSP FROM ALPINE) USING Ai-NET SYSTEM, EVEN WITH THE FACTORY SPEAKEARS SOUNDS GOOD, ANY WAY, I ATACH 2 AUTOTEK AMPLIFIERS FOR SUBS & MIDRANGE & TWEETER, PLUS A CD- CHANGER ALPINE, AND MBQUART MIDRANGE+TWEETER, AND THE SUBS ARE SAS, SOUNDS REAL GOOD, I GOT WHAT I WANT, POWERFUL AND CLEAR SOUND, DISTORTION FREE.

Strengths:
EXCELLENT CD PLAYER (THE BETTER IN MY OPINION), CRYSTAL CLEAR SOUND, SOUND BETTER THAN ANY ONE USING FACTORY SPEAKERS, GREAT LOOK (WHITE PLUS BLUE, GREEN ETC) IT MATCH PERFECTLY IN MY GTI, AND THE AI-NET SYSTEM WORKS GOOD.

Weaknesses:
DISCOUNTINUED, I TRY TO FIND ANOTHER ONE, FOR MY GIRLFRIEND'S CAR, WE DON´T LIKE THE ALPINE NEW MODELS SO WE GO FOR KENWOOD. I'M SORRY ALPINE.

Review 3 of 12

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
NO, the reason there is "NO TEXT" is because Alpine have designed a lemon that is the biggest piece of s-h-i-t ever. Trying to sell it now and get a 7878 which will probably be just as bad. Other problems like the head of the unit not remembering exactly which position it was last time the car was on also annoys me. Most people use Purchased CD''s which, where I come from, dont use CD Text. Even when I do create my own in ECD Creator it''s still difficult to know what track you are on beacuse of the stupid way the text scrolls (instead of filling up all the characters on the display initially, it starts at the rightmost character and moves slowly, about .5 sec across the display... by the time a word has appeared you already know what the song is.

Strengths:
Sounds excellent.

Weaknesses:
Too many to mention. Display should be dot-matrix not the awful 7-segment type display on alarm clocks etc, CD Text, cant store names for Radio stations (it picks them up from the station itself which only 1 of the stations in my area uses, and even then I never listen to that one)! Display head is erratic when moving to previous position, NO GOD DAMMED CLOCK!, toy design... slow response to pressing some buttons (SOURCE for example)

Similar Products Used:
Kenwood.
