Review 1 of 1

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1999

Summary:
Only a few MD/CD heads out there. This is best one of the bunch(though Alpine does make MD/CD head with 3-CD cartridge capability for $500 more.
Only problem I think is mandatory for them to fix ASAP is lack of face-plate dimmer.
Recommended.

Strengths:
Adequate Power
Huge range of adjustments(equalization, Image localization,
Sound Effects, and Surround Sound)
Remote Control for back-seat use.
Tilt-face for sun interference elimination.
Wide number of display modes.
Easy installation in Double-DIN space.
24 station presets.
Plays MD's or CD's.

Weaknesses:
No face-plate dimmer(looks like video game at night)
Picket-fencing on local stations among buildings, despite sensitivity excellence.
High cost.
Occasional skip on MD playback(error correction circuitry not the equal of home decks).
Runs so hot could be problem for CD's after a few hours of use.
