AAAAALLLPPPIIINNNEEE!
Auxilary Input! (For when I put PS2 in =) )
Impressive sound.

Weakness:

Someone said that the text is too small, but who cares! I bought it for sound, not show. Anyway, I have it on "Blackout" so the text doesn't show = better sound quality and it keeps my interior dark (I have all interior lights and dash lights off)
It takes a while to scroll through iPod with the Ai-Net interface. I would suggest going 1/8 inch (into iPod) to RCA (into Aux. inputs) so if you want to change a song, you're using the iPod not the CDA-9827. Although if you went this way, your iPod won't charge like it does with the Ai-Net interface.

Great Head Unit! I love this thing. My parents gave it to me as a 16th birthday gift. Even though it only has 18w RMS output, I blew my Sony XPlode 6x9's because there are A LOT of settings that you can tweak. Sounds amazing (before I blew the speakers :) ) I used to have 2 12" XPlodes but I returned them, got a new sub and my car sounds pretty nice. I just need to get new speakers because the blown ones suck. I paid $100 for the ipod interface, which is now a lot cheaper, but I couldn't be happier!

Don't listen to anyone that says this isn't an audiophile system yet he uses Infinity amps, lol. Infinity isn't audiofile you tool!! Try Arc and Elevation audio before you try to say you are knowledgeable about car audio.

MP3/WAV support,

Weakness:

- Text display isn't very big. Alpine could have made the text smaller. But again, I am really not into fancy displays so that didn't really bother me too much. - No built-in support for Sirius. (has XM)

The reason I got this amp was because: (in order of importance) - Front, Rear, and Sub line output. - Open face (fewer mechanical parts to break and less cumbersome when driving). - MP3/WAV capabilities. - 4 volt output. - Remote Control. - Decent name/reputation. I did a lot of searching and this was the only player that matched all of this criteria. So far I am very happy with it. My subs sound much better than with my old HU. I didn't even know that it could make a difference. I am not real big on fancy displays or very complicated face plates, so the remote control is a nice touch. I can change basic controls while keeping my eyes on the road.

Great MX function and Deft options. in combination with Alpine speakers works fluently

Weakness:

It does NOT have an EQ, but it can be fixed with buying an sepparate EQ like all of the more educated musicologists have

My first introduction to higher class car audio, works great in combinatiopn with Alpine S-series speakers, and makes wery clear sout without too much loss of quality. The sound it makes playing clasical music and the music made without electronic gismos is quite rich and it can make a statement. Whom ever enters the car is really suprised that I have only two spakers (17cm, S series, Alpine) and you can boost up the volume without too much distorison. It is an Alpine MP3 player. With this one it is like buying a Lamburghini. It looks great, feels great, but still not a ferrari

Strength:

A total of 3 4volt preouts, bass engine for subwoofer control, XM ready, AI net controls for optional cd changer and aux inputs.

Weakness:

Sound increase is non linear at low volumes, sound level increases too much between detents in the volume knob i.e. the sound level increase from setting 1 to 2, 2-3, 3-4 is much larger than expected, no high pass filter to filter out low frequencies from being reproduced and sent to the interior speakers.

I bought this radio to replace the stock radio in my 97 Explorer. The sound is vastly improved over the stock unit even though I have not completely upgraded my speakers yet. I am putting in pioneer 3 ways in the rear and MB Quart components in the front. Pioneers are installed and sound crystal clear. CD player does not skip even on the horrible Michigan roads.

no real EQ,but thats fine with me.

I replaced a Pioneer 4600 with this Alpine CDA-9827. The sound is HK like. BASS engine is amazing. 4volts pre-out place this unit ahead of some 2005 Alpine models. BUY IT WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!!

Strength:

Price. Clean sound. Great build quality.

Weakness:

No EQ. No DSP. VERY primitive sound controls. MMX actually made the sound worse when used with an amp.

I didn't think a head unit mattered much in a sound system. I got PG Tantrum amps driving Infinity speakers and 2 subs. The Alpine gave me really clean sound, but the lack of sound control just didn't bring my speakers to their full potential. You can only adjust the treb/bass and their frequencies. The lack of EQ and DSP just made my system sound flat and dull. I recommend this unit for people who is looking for a moderate upgrade from the factory system. If you are putting in new speakers and amps then I suggest you shell out for a unit that can give you more options to tune your music. DSP (which this Alpine lacks) actually makes the music seem more dynamic and more "potent-sounding." I recently upgraded to the Pioneer 9600 and it made a world of difference. It's almost like going from AM to FM quality.

Strength:

- Crystal clear sound. - FM reception SIGNIFICANTLY improved over any other radio I have ever heard. - Can browse MP3 folders and files without interupting the current track playing. -it's an alpine...

Weakness:

-the EQ on it is fairly primitive -equivalent cost stereos from other manufacturers have more features -the remote is big like something out of the 80's

This radio is very nice though it does not have as many features as the higher end Alpines.

CLEAN CLEAN sound, How much you can customize how your music sounds is amazing. The deck is hard lookin straight up.

Weakness:

Once you get past the layout and how it operate it, It's all good

I never knew that the head unit is so important to a sound system. I just got rid of my old Walmart bought Sony CDX 4000, And replaced it with this Alpine. Damn now I'm hearing things in the songs that I missed with my old sony. And the level of sound customization on this deck just makes your jaw drop. For real to anyone who reads this COP THIS HEAD UNIT, You'll defintiely notice a difference.
