- Not the best head unit to use for a system with amps and sub (lack of bass).
- Sometimes has a hard time reading CD-R type CDs.

It was really hard to review this head unit un biased do to the fact I encountered problems when installing my amp and subs, but overall it is a very clear sounding cd player, with a very easy to learn interface that equels a very happy listener. If you can still pick these up, and if you are looking for exellent sound, then look no further. If you are looking for something that has tons of add-on potential then look elsewhere, because this sucker is extremely hard to rig anything other than the standard 4 speakers.

Great looking faceplate-bright, uncluttered, and has thosegreen chiclet buttons. Removal of faceplate is easy. Good sound from onboard amp, but would suggest outboard amp. CD player has not skipped once!!! Even though I got into an accident, it kept going-amazing. Reliable... haven't had one problem with it.

Lack of features. Especially the fact that the time elapsed is shown without the time left.. etc. Radio does not pick up distant signals well. This might be a product of my antenna though. Don't like the volume buttons, the rotary ones are much, much better.

I paid 250 for it when it was new. I would easily recommend this product for anyone on a budget. I love its look, its reliability, the fact that the CD player NEVER skips, and that its an alpine! I have it hooked up to my CD changer, and have had no problems at all. The only drawback to this product is that it has no rca outputs, its amp is not necessarily transparent and powerful, its buttons are not very functional, and its radio isn't that great. This IS for people who want a high quality, reliable cd player on a budget. IT IS NOT for people who want all the bells and whistles no matter the price.

This is a fairly entry level unit in the Alpine family of CD Receivers. However, it being an entry level model in no way undermines the sound quality of this CD receiver. A respectable 35Wx4 with "Loud" option for amplifying low notes at lower volumes is especially worth the price.

The interface and display are one of the better ones you will see in the $179-$220 price range. The CD transport mechanism is flawless. The only not so good thing is White lettering on the buttons which tends not to stand on the green backlight for the buttone. This is especially true during daytime. Other than this minor complain, if you you are looking for an under $200 CD Receiver for your vehicle, this one should be on the top of your list.

I love this player! The sound is excellent and the price is right. The CD player works flawlessly it hasn't skipped once, no matter how bumpy the ride. The radio works equally well--12 pre-sets for FM stations, 6 pre-sets for AM--and with the DX feature, I'm now able to pull in stations from 120+ miles away. The faceplate pops on and off easily and comes with its own hard plastic case for convenient storage.
My only complaint--and it's a minor one--is that the "off" switch shares the same button as the "mute" switch. You push the button quickly for mute and hold it in for 3 seconds to turn the stereo off. Well, you may not think it now, but after you've pulled up in front of your girlfriend's house, three seconds is a long time to be sitting in your car waiting for your stereo to turn off!

Other than that, though, a great car stereo.

The CDM-7833 is Alpine's entry level cd player, intended for those who want to upgrade their cars tape deck but don't need the bells and whistles of competition-level head units. You can certainly find car CD Players for cheaper than the CDM-7833's $180-220 price, but won't find the quality you'd expect from a name brand product. A respectable 35x4 (max) amp, detachable face, and CD shuttle control highlight the CDM-7833's features. If you want a basic CD player with good sound quality, this head unit could be for you.
