Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $215.00 from stereo 1

Year / Model Reviewed:
98 jensen cm715k

Summary:
my unit is about 5 years old now and its still kicking. though, its starting to show some ware, it is still working for the most part. the only problems i have had with it is: 1) the tape deck works but it is not up to par & 2) if your heavy handed or use the joystick to alot (which most folks will because it allows you adjust everthing) expect the thing to break at least twice. Other than that, it is a solid unit.

Strengths:
display (easy to read); plays cd-r (cd-rw sometimes)very well

Weaknesses:
clock, faceplate (joystick), tape deck.

Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Crutchfield

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 CM715K

Summary:
This unit has been nothing but trouble for me from day 1. The first unit I had had an assortment of problems, including the radio would intermittently not work. The tape would continue to play while listening to the radio, the radio would bleed over the tape, the cd random function didn't work, etc. I returned this unit to Crutchfield and was immediately given a new one. This worked fine for a while, though the random function on the CD player has never worked. The tape deck no longer works, defeating the purpose of getting this model, the flip down face is a poor engineering solution as the clip on mine broke off eventually (Jensen did provide me with free replacements after calling), and the clock is fast. I'm also not a fan of the seek function on the radio as it is clumsy to use. For just listening to CDs straight through it is fine though. One other annoying "feature" is that upon powering up, the CD player always starts at the beginning of the current track, which gets very repetitive on short trips.

Strengths:
Easy Install Good Sound

Weaknesses:
Overall quality CD Functions Tape Deck

Review 4 of 5

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I was looking for a system that had a CD and cassette in the dash and would fit into my Grand Caravan. It was a simple replacement as advertised. The clock feature is my biggest gripe. It is the only clock in the car other than my watch and I cannot display it continuously. A display switch will cause the clock to appear for a few seconds and then switch back to an audio display. The display also goes blank when the unit is turned off. It would be nice to have the clock displayed when the car is running but unit power is off. Cassette FF/RW also does not work well and does not have an indicator that tells if the unit is actually working.

Strengths:
Great sound. Easy to install and use.

Weaknesses:
Clock cannot be displayed continuously. Clock cannot be displayed when unit power is off and the car is running. Combined volume/track selection knob takes some training. Will sometime change track when attempting to change volume. Cassette FF/RW does not have a display indicator to see if it is actually working.

The power is there. The features are great. Love the sound. The illumination is very impressive. Very easy to install.

Weaknesses:
Have not found anything yet.
