Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 Jensen cd515k

Strengths:
Two pre-amp outputs + separate subwoofer pre-out which is controllable by the stereo, removeable faceplate, very durable looking.

Weaknesses:
Horrible installation, may not fit your car, awful mounting brackets, poor documentation.

Summary:
I wish I had good things to say about this cd player. It looked really cool in the pictures, and has the 1.5 din size which was perfect for my corvette. The documentation was terrible, however. How do you install or remove the faceplate? There isn't a shred of information about this. Are you supposed to guess? The manual is thick, but there isn't one page that clearly demonstrates how to remove or install the faceplate, just a vague description and a couple of stingy pictures. Terrible. But that isn't the worst part; the stereo won't even fit through the hole. I would have to get out my dremel and cut the bezel if I wanted to install this stereo. And the mounting brackets are a nightmare, if you think the stock ones from your old stereo will work, think again. You have to use the ones they supply, all eight of them which are supposed to go together in some way so you can mount the goddam thing. It looks nice and shiny, wish I could have heard how it sounds, but I'm not cutting up my car to install it. And I'm not running around town trying to find mounting brackets.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $130.00 from Ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001

Strengths:
Seems to be built well overall (I opened it up for a peek). Overall excellent sound, right price, ease of operation, good visuals without being overbearing, 4 Rca speaker outputs,2Sub Rca outputs with loudness, 5v RCA output feeds amp strong initial signal. Good inline noise filter. Unit face is strong and removable. Good for an ex-hippy trying to have a reasonable priced overall system to listen to The Beatles and Jethro Tull. Good radio reception. System is incapable of playing anti-social/hostile/threatening and devisive rap and non-melodic trash music. People, save you ears and your souls while you can.

Weaknesses:
Initially had some problem with CD Player-would not take a cd due to bind in mechanism. Took a look at it myself rather than sent it in and was able to bend and file a little and works great now. A little hard to install removable face, but beginning to get hang of it now. Wish RCA outputs were stronger and made with larger gauge wire. Wish the speaker outputs and RCA outputs not on same harness-makes for some effort in getting all the stuff into dash without stressing wires and hands.

Summary:
Have enjoyed this CD Reciever. Sound quality overall very good. Strait forward and rugged in 1.5 DIN configuration that slides right into my Dodge Caravan. Overall a 4 out of 5 rating as I know higher priced units can sound better
