Review 2 of 8

Price Paid:  $230.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1999 JVC KD-SX840

Strengths:
Rotary Volume is great. Super easy user-interface. Fairly inexpensive (if you don't get it at Sears). Easy to read.

Weaknesses:
Ugly remote. CD occaisionally doesn't fully eject. Low output voltage on preouts, no sup preout.

Summary:
Great head unit for the money, I don't regret buying it at all, If your in the market spend a little extra money for the 950, you'll be glad you did.

Similar Products Used:
Jensen (never buy jensen it is crap), just ordered a RF8350 to replace it

Review 3 of 8

Price Paid:  $225.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 kd sx840

Strengths:
-It does not ever skip
-The Remote is user friendly in the dark(or any where)
-excellent sound for low end system as compared to sony.

Weaknesses:
Does not play cd r/w!
I have had the problem where the cd is ejected and only comes out about 1/4 the way, and all you gotta do is touch it and then it works fine.

Summary:
I have had it for 1 and 1/2 years and it has given me no problems,(touch wood)
Great sound, i have it connected to 2 Calibra 12" stealths and Calibra xover, 160rmsx*2 with a 50 x4 lineartec and pioneer.....
It has great RCA output levels and gives a good clear bass with minimal distortion at high volume.

If your like loud clear un-interupted music go for it!

If your like to play cd/rw don't even think about it.

The only reason i want to change it is to get a player that reads mp3s and cd/rw.

Similar Products Used:
sony d-bass cd reciever, the sony could not read half the stuff the JVC could, strange considering sony has a steak in Aiwa. Also both are 40x4 and the Aiwa is much louder and clearer.

Review 4 of 8

Year / Model Reviewed:
 99' KDSX840

Strengths:
This reciever does'nt ever skip, it has an awesome display at night, comes with a remote, has easy to use equalizer controls for tweaking of the system which are very helpful and helps you find that sound spot you like. Great for a midrange budget if you want high quality! Mine cost about $140

Weaknesses:
Maybe it could have a mono subwoofer output and more powerful preamps then if they made that into the 2000 model i would buy it again.

Summary:
This reciever was well built and has very helpful features.

Similar Products Used:
When compared to the crap being offered from sony and panasonic this is very good. If you are looking for another good reciever i'd check out the pionners if you dont like this one.

Strengths:
It was good while it lasted, good sound, gave my speakers some good use.

Weaknesses:
It does not work anymore. A little something called water dammaged, they want to charge me 120$ to get it fixed, so it was good until it broke.

Summary:
It was great until it broke, good display, sound was good, options good also.
