Review 1 of 11

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Came with the car

Year / Model Reviewed:
1990 Mercedes

Strengths:
That rotating face is pretty slick...and when closed, seems very secure. When I burn a cd, the text shows up real nice. The sound quality is pretty good, especially with these borderline factory speakers in the dash.

Weaknesses:
Trying to open when closed. That little switch thing is not good. The rotating face plate...I like it, and think it is pretty neat...but you sure can see it breaking...thus keeping you out of your radio. I would really like to hook up an external cassette deck, but the booklet gives no idea how to do this.

Summary:
Probably the best car stereo I have used so far. It plays cdr's just fine, though about one in ten needs to be reburned due to sounding staticky...most likely my burners problem.

Review 2 of 11

Price Paid:  $250.00 from local stereo shop

Year / Model Reviewed:
 7011

Strengths:
Rotatable faceplate is a nice feature.

Weaknesses:
Tiny buttons. Features like treble, bass and balance controls must be reached through sub-menus. Incredibly short lifespan.£

Summary:
Frankly, I'm surprised at the number of positive reviewes for this unit. When it worked it was reasonably efficient, although the buttons are small--and those same buttons are necssary to reach many of the submenu features. Our 7011 stopped working yesterday; no more lights, no more access to any information, just a black screen. In other words completely useless. We were told that it would cost $90-$150 to fix the broken wire and take 3 to 6 weeks for the repair. Is this Kenwood quality? This unit was never abused, mishandled or subject to any distress other than normal wear and tear on a 3 year old piece of equipment. Surely one should be able to expect more than 3 years of service from a $250 cd/radio, right?

Review 3 of 11

Price Paid:  $50.00 from Friend

Strengths:
Nothing

Weaknesses:
It's hard to open it when you turn it off.

Summary:
This is a really great cd player. You cant even tell that it is a cd player until it is turned on because of the black mask. Its really cool how you can change the colors to.

Review 4 of 11

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 kdc-7011

Strengths:
Good Power Easy to install Rotating Face Security Code and doesn''t skip often

Weaknesses:
Not good for compitition

Summary:
Everyone says that this is sensitive. Well I installed it myself with absolutaly no knowledge about car audio, and it worked great. The face plate rotated well, and it played wonderful with my MTX amp and my 2 Rockford Subs. Then I totaled my car. It was a bad wreck, but the player still works great. The face plate still rotated fine so I was kinda surprised to read that in these reviews. Great audio and good thump at an affordable price. You cann''t go wrong with this. Oh yeah, you can name the cd''s even if you do not have a changer, all you do is hold down the top button just to the right of the display. Then it gives you a line to write in. You chande letters with the buttons to the right.
