from millionbuy.com Year / Model Reviewed: 2003 CQ-DF583U Summary: Great unit for playing MP3s. Solid build quality and a great value. The charcoal chrome face plate give it a sophisticated look, with a little bit of 'bling' factor. The blue backlighting is easily readable in direct sunlight and really glows at night. The configuration options are limited, and the poor radio reception is a shame, but it is still a good value for the price. Strengths: - Display is readable in direct sunlight (cool blue glow really shines at night)
- Quick changes between MP3 tracks and folders
- Built-in amp give a lot of kick
- Great build quality, doesn't feel cheap and plastic
- Suprisingly, the chrome doesn't show fingerprints as bad as I would have thought Weaknesses: - Poor radio reception, both AM and FM
- Cannot use radio buttons (1 thru 6) by feel, have to take your eyes off the road
- Very slow reading CDRW (inital startup is slow, track changes are quick)
- Wish it remembered bass/treble settings separately for radio and for CD playback.
- Only shows first 10 characters of song title for MP3s, wish it had a 2-line display
- Song titles scroll very slow and scroll speed is not adjustable
- The level indicators don't react very quickly (minor nitpick, I know this is just for show)
- Makes the rest of my car look dull in comparison :) Similar Products Used: 1999 Alpine radio/tape player
