Review 2 of 16

Price Paid:  $250.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 DEH-P7000R

Strengths:
This unit is a great unit. Has more features than most, including the EQ Q-curve adjustments. Nice big screen.

- CD-RW Compatible, this is a huge plus, Pioneer doesn't gaurentee it would work with CD-RW's but it did after a quick test
- Front Image Enhancing feature, this is a good feature for most typical car audio systems.
- Sub woofer controls, can control the levels of the Sub Woofer +/- 9 dB plus low pass crossover.
- High Pass Crossover for car speakers, really good feature for those of you with subs that don't want the 50 Hz signals distorting your deck speakers.
- 6 Pre-amp outputs, completely setup for an external amp. This is great because you get 2 for the subs, right and left rear, and right and left front outputs. Having four deck speaker pre-amp outputs allows for full fading with external amps, (vs having only one set of pre-amp outputs).
- RDS (Radio Data System), can see station call sign, and any text that the radio station wants to broadcast including song names or anything extra.
- High Volt Preamp outputs (4.8v) I can't believe that Pioneer reduced these output levels in the P7200, funny since the Premier series still kept the high volt outputs (just shows how much Pioneer is just marketing on the particulars, seems like they are out to get you not make the best deck...)

Weaknesses:
-Screen can wash out in sunlight (previously I had a DEH-P4000R that didn't do this)
-ATT button is on the remote only
-ATT button mutes too quickly (I have a friend with a Kenwood in which the ATT would reduce the volume at a good rate until it was muted, with the sudden mute that the Pioneer provides is too abrupt causing problems with subs when playing loudly, which is when you would normally want to use the ATT...)
-Menus too cluttered, for each item you have to keep hitting a button to get to the feature you want, this gets annoying if you like to keep changing features.
-No quick track access with CD Player, not that big of a deal but I just find that there are 6 nice button on the bottom of the CD Player that are for the Tuner but when you are using the CD Player it seems like non of these buttons are even used, why not do something with them, like more programmable buttons or quick track access?
-No CD-Text, can't really complain, this Deck came out before CD-Text really hit big.

Summary:
Really good deck if you can beat the MSRP
Couple drawback but seems like it has more advantages than most and most head units have more drawbacks then this unit.

Review 3 of 16

Price Paid:  $400.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 DEh-P7000

Strengths:
I love this CD Player i had it in a my old car and i took it out and put it to a 1999 JGC, it is the best thing about the Jeep. it was hook up to a PPI 800 watt amp and 2 10' pioneer subs it sounded great. now it is hook up to a factory system and it still makes them sound great.
Future Shop did a great jod of the installations and re-installed it in the Jeep for free, thats great service. I got an extended warrenty with it and that is the only thing i wasted my money on because it hasn't even had to be cleaned yet.

Weaknesses:
The alarm that comes in it is kind of annoying so i diabled it. I went on a road trip and it was on for about 10 hours in 40 celius and the CD player turned off for about 20 mins because it got too hot. But it deserved the break.

Summary:
I paid 650.00 including installation (CDN) and i'm very happy, i would recommend this but it is getting kind of old ( 10 months ) so they probably have something better out for the same amount of money.

Review 4 of 16

Price Paid:  $289.00

Strengths:
Lot's of options, it's worth it to sit down and go through the whole manuel, and all the functions because there is a lot you can do with it, especially if you have subs or other aux's

Weaknesses:
I don't it's look's all that much, but that's just me. It also dosn't have an att button on the face, only on the remote. There should also be some sort of light behind the face so you can see the eject button and the cd slot at night.

Summary:
I paid a nice price for this through carmedia1.com, it took a while to sort everything out to get it to me. If they don't have something they just put it on back order for you without telling you, so if you don't call up and ask about it they'll probably make you wait up to six months. Si when ordering call your ordre in to make sure they have what your ordering. Other than that they have some of the nicest prices. EX I got a perfect ten for 159.00, when it re tails at 320.00

Review 5 of 16

Strengths:
Just what everyone else said. This unit is the best. 4.8v preouts, sub output, no other unit will let you talor your sound so well, not just bass, mid, and treble, but how long they hit, etc. Best sound out there. Cd text, everything. Never skips.

Weaknesses:
My buttons have gotten a little crusty and scratched because they are rubber. No light to insert CD in the dark. No mute button, has pause though. Display hard to read in a convertable.

Summary:
This CD player is awsome. If you can still find one buy it, you wont be dissapointed. I highly recommend Crutchfield.com. It doesnt have alot of gizmos and gadgets like the new Sony's which I returned for this one. It is all function. The db monitor is cool too. To watch when sound is coming from only one side. other than that it is straight buisness. I have a sub hooked up through the Sub output snd you can turn it down or up and change the frequency of it, all by itself. All the audio controls you can handle, crossovers, phasers, everything. Never skips, never. My girlfriend has a jeep and it is ruff as hell and hers doesnt skip while offroading. Kidneys fall out while it skips. The LED light when you take off the face is way cool too. Even if dont have the alarm hooked up it will still put out the light with it on. The best value for the money. I would most definatly buy another Pioneer.
