Summary:
I wanted a head unit that would fit into my Xtreme with out the large gap. This unit fit the bill. It is mated with JL Audio 250/1 and a 300/4. 2 JL 10" W06's and Alumapro CAP 5, MB Quart DQD216's and Alpine seperates. The unit fits very well into the dash. The controls for basic operation is very good. I also had a requirement for a volume knob. The unit has 3 sets of out puts. So, setting up front, rear and sub is a snap. The sound is good for consumer class head unit. If you are factory upgrading, this thing will out do a factory head unit by miles. The display is erganomicly correct. In my Xtreme the head unit even angles twards the driver. If my passenger is a tweeker, I can push in the volume knob and use the remote. This unit is XM ready. I have XM and it is easy to navigate. I can change the display to show station name, artist, song, genere or the stations number, ie: 82 for "the system". The EQ has basic operations and a fine tweek it in mode. The lights also have the dimmer function when the head lights are on. You can save XM and radio presets on the preset buttons on the bottom. The CD insert and eject functions very smotthly. The CD play back operation is very good to exellent. The Xtreme is a rough ride. The unit does not skip. For old skoolers who listen to the FM a lot, the tuner is also easy to operate. You can also tweek in the SNR for the 4 inputs/functions so they all sound the same level. If you want to upgrade your chevy or chrysler and don't want the bug gap and a factory installed clean look this thing is the ticket. Look on the net for price comparisons. I got mine for 207.00 delivered to the door. It was manufactured only 3 1/2 weeks prior to arriving at my house. Or, use Crutchfield. I have gotten tons of stuff from them and they always do me right.

Strengths:
Does it all features and plenty of stock power for a factory upgrade. 45 Watts from a MOSFET amp. Can also do fronts, backs and a small sub from the head unit alone. Many features. Tons of tweek ins. You also have 3 out puts, fully controllable and they have 4 volt out put.

Weaknesses:
My only complaint is that there are so many features, the owners manual is like a phone book. The EQ super fine tweeks are very complicated to read through.

Summary:
I bought this radio because it seemed to be the best of the very limited choices available for a GM fit radio. This Pioneer performs exactly as advertised and I'm very pleased with it. It even makes the OEM speakers sound really good and it works seamlessly with the Pioneer XM satellite tuner. This radio has been on the market for several years now so I expect Pioneer to come out with a replacement using an updated display which is about the only improvement this radio needs except possibly an integrated XM tuner.

Strengths:
Great performance, ease of installation, perfect fit into the 1.5 Din opening of my 1998 GMC full size pickup, looks very good.

Weaknesses:
Somewhat dated display especially when using XM satellite radio. Display is a bit washed in diect sunlight.

Summary:
Beware, I have a 2000 chevy truck and this was no easy install. It says it fits GM, but they fail to tell you what year it stops at. I had to make some major modifications, to get this to work. I had a factory unit that fit right in the guide rails and "Snapped" in. If your situation is similar then good luck. The instructions say to use any existing mounting off of the factory unit, but my 2000 factory unit did not have anything to easily take off and transfer to the new pioneer unit. When you do get it installed it does look great.

Strengths:
Looks, when installed. Various functions for sound quality, built in car alarm and protection system in which you need to do A LOT of wiring.

Weaknesses:
Display in sunlight, and whats with the different size antenna plug that made me have to get an adapter. GM FIT, then make it completely GM FIT. I looked everywhere on the net to make sure this would fit my truck with no major mounting modifications and no luck. SOMEONE, at pioneer needs to state what GM vehicles it doesn't fit rather then saying most or all GM and Crylser.

Summary:
Everything the literature says about this CD receiver is true, plus more. It looks cool, was a breeze to put in, and sounds great. Can't wait to hook up my 3 Kenwood 929 amps and Infinity Perfect 12 sub to it. Right now I have Pioneer 6x9 in the back and Infinity 5.25 components in front door. The ability to limit lower frequencys is a big plus.

Strengths:
Versatility, tonal adjustment capabilities, sound quality.

Weaknesses:
The volumne only goes up to 63. Wazzup with that?

Summary:
Looked at alot of different models and decided that a non-MP3 player was better looking and feature rich for a lot less. All the others (almost all) were silver or gray and my dash and radio position are black and LARGE factory unit, so this one fit perfect .. took all of 5 minutes to install .. nice

Hard to read display in daylight
