this headunit is the most reliable head unit i have ever got my hands on... the other guy has no idea how to hook up a cd player... this isn't the greatest head unit for an aftermarket system with only haveing a 3 band eq although i just sold my flip screen and this is the only thing i had lying around and i am hitting 150.3 db with this controlling my system crazzzzzyyyy with only 2 volt preouts... bottom line great unit for the everyday person nothing fancy... its a cd player that plays cd's duh...

Price Paid:  $280.00 from Xtreme Sounds

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Pioneer Premier DEH-P200

Summary:
For the first year or so I was rather pleased with this reciever. It was cheaper than the comparable Pioneer badged reciever. I figured I'd save a little money and since I had always heard nothing but good things about Pioneer I didn't hesitate. It has moved with me from the '90 Olds beater I was driving (I paid more for the reciever than I did for the car!) to my '00 Sierra. Well the third year of ownership, nothing but intermitent, annoying problems. Periodically the CD player wont accept a CD. You can try to shove one in but it won't "suck" it in, but it will eject one youve shoved in quite a ways. Then sometimes it will work just fine. Just recently I noticed my rear left speaker wasn't working. I found that if I flexed the bottom of the reciever (to which the printed circuit board is attached) I could get the left speaker to work so the problem is definitely in the reciever. I can stand having a problem or two with a car over several years... but an aftermarket CD player ought to last forever.

Strengths:
Sound shaping controls in the advanced audio menu. Ease of use. Price paid for feature content.

Weaknesses:
Longevity sucks.

Pioneer GM/Chrysler fit units. Many, many second hand units ranging from ancient Kenwood cassete/AM/FM to later Sony CD recievers, etc., etc.
