Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Suncoast Sound in Mo

Summary:
I purchased this EQ when I still worked for the store... retail price was around $200 and I got it at cost (about $100 or so). The EQ overall, does well. I prefer a more broader range of frequencies to use to adjust the sound (I agree with the other reviewer who stated that the highest should be at least 12KHz if not 16KHz) and a more variable bass crossover point... 90Hz is too high IMO. The unit gives a firm 10volts output in the RCAs so it really helps with weak-signaled head units... like having a line driver and an EQ in one piece!

Overall, it is a good unit. not the best but way, way far from the worst!

Strengths:
10volt variable line out
Q adjustment feature

Weaknesses:
Needs more flexibility in crossover points
Needs more flexibility in audio frequencies

Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $70.00 from Hippo's - Albany, NY

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001

Summary:
I've used the 2101 for a coupla weeks now, and I haven't had problems with any "noise" in the level control that a previous reviewer has claimed. Quite the contrary: this is an excellent EQ. If you're getting noise from any potentiometer (rotary gain control), it's most likely a "dirty" or grungy pot. I'd suggest you remove the outer knob, and spray the contacts of the pot with a good electronics tuner/switch cleaner, then work the pot back and forth until the gunk is cleared. I happened to find this unit at a "clearance sale" price, because a local audio dealer is getting out of that end of the biz, and just concentrating on home theatre - so all of their mobile electronics are going at cost or less. YAY FOR ME! So, I couldn't help but grab an Eclipse 4441 head unit, and a 5083 CD changer while I was there! (I'll post reviews on those units as well. May also be picking up their last Eclipse power amp.) The 2101's parametric EQ at the low end is very useful, with separate controls for level/Q/frequency; the 18dB/oct., 120Hz high-pass & 90/120Hz low-pass X-over's are fine for my set-up; and the 2101 doesn't take up much space in the dash. The other EQ center frequencies at 250/600/1.5k/4k/10k are good choices, although I'd prefer the last treble freq. at 12k or 16k. Great EQ, and not a lot of $!!

Summary:
Pretty good EQ. Nice features but has some noise when you turn the volume up or down. Doesn''t always do it, but when it does it is VERY noticable. I have 2 other friends that have the same problem. All were professionally installed.

Strengths:

Weaknesses:
Static noise when the volume knob is operated.

Review 5 of 5

Price Paid:  $250.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 99

Summary:
I got a good deal on the EQ, it was worth every penny. If you like to have your bass seperated from your mids and highs, and like to tune the best possible music get this EQ!!!!!!!!!

Strengths:
This EQ is by far the best i have used, it increases the depth of your music so much, Im an audiophile, I like alot of midbass and this can deliver it along with highs and lows

Weaknesses:
There is only a line to determine where the frequencies are at, very difficult at night. But if you know how to listen to music you can judge easily where to set perameters

Audiotek, Rockford Fosgate, Eclipse has better quality better sound reproduction
