Review 1 of 14

Price Paid:  $79.00 from Yahoo auctions

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2000

Strengths:
volume, voice alert, sensitivity to all other bands.

Weaknesses:
Laser detection.

Summary:
Well...I thought it wkred well until I blew right past a NJ trooper the other night with NO warning whatsoever. What made it worse was that I was not coming around a curve or anything..stright on T 80mph in a 55 zone. I got a warning as opposed to c summons, but he told me that he got me with a laser. I immediately figured it was new technology that was not built into my detector. Lo and behold my consternation when I found otu that laser detection was suppoed to be covered. Also, the unit cuts on and off FREQUENTLY. Problem with the power cord....ready to buy another!

Review 2 of 14

Price Paid:  $60.00 from Rex

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Cobra ESD 6200

Strengths:
Loud alarm nice women's voice

Weaknesses:
terrible terrible range! Volumn control a pain in the butt to adjust without holding the whole unit.

Summary:
This is a terrible Radar detector. I have to be almost right on top of a cop before it goes off. I do not believe the range is much more than a fifth of a mile at best! In fact, I usually see the cop JUST after the detector goes off. Believe me please, if you depend on this device to say you from a ticket you are in deep trouble pal. Oviousely you have to pay much more to get somthing that works I would think. The best detector is apparently your foot......Oh, mine is now broke. I had it 8 months. Where you hook the power cord into the unit. It goes on an off! Now it does not even detect anything. Does not matter, it does not work worth a dam anyway.

Review 4 of 14

Price Paid:  $120.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Cobra 6200

Strengths:
Size, range, price, voice alert a plus...

Weaknesses:
I've never gotten a Laser (lidar) warning, X-band is a little sensitive

Summary:
I've found this product to work quite well. In fact it seems to be more sensitive than my friend's brand new Cobra. Also I've found the twisted cord to be the superior when compared to a straight cord. All in all using this dectector for 2 years I haven't been pulled over.. And I've got 115mph in a 55mhh zone...

Review 5 of 14

Price Paid:  $169.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Cobra 6200

Strengths:
Loud Alert, Auto Mute, Voice Alert, pretty good protection

Weaknesses:
Suctions to window fail after 1.5 years, no option for straight cord, luck of the draw (See overall impression)

Summary:
I think there are good units and bad units. My friend and I have the exact same unit, purchased at the same time, and they perform completly different. My unit works very well, where as, his unit fails to alert him of most radar traps.

I received a ticket while driving his car with his radar detector from a cop using laser. His detector never made a sound! About three weeks later I was in the exact same location, with the exact same cop (My nightly drive to work), but this time I was in my car with my detector. My detector started making noise as soon as I saw the cop, thus saving me from another ticket.

Quality control seems to be an issue with this detector. You can see from the ratings, people either love them or hate them!
