Nice and reliable radar detector. Compass is a nice option. Hasn''t failed me yet. The voices are pleasant as well. When it goes off, the beeps after the first 3 are muted.

Strength:

LOUD, detects over hills.

Weakness:

power cord is pretty short, barely makes it over my dash.

(Got it so cheap b/c of my employee discount.) I got this after i got my first speeding ticket, which was 25 over, that sucked as i am only 17!! Put it in the car, went of as i left, secutiry system set it off. It never really went off till a week later as my being at school most of the week. If there''s a cop you''ll know it!! It is loud as hell. I heard it over my system and it saved my tail!! TWICE!! Only had it for mayb a month, very very happy, and would most definitly reccommend it. Lots of options to it too, compass, sensitivity(cty, hwy), tone and such.

Strength:

Ok. . .it did have its good points. The digital text was very easy to read. The tones were distinct and loud. The voice alert was pleasant and easy to understand. The compass worked like a charm and I will really miss it.The mounting bracket was surprisingly sturdy ( as opposed to the Passport''s ) and hardly had any vibration when on my window at all.

Weakness:

Way, way, way too many false alerts. . .rendering the reliablity of it nearly useless.

I''ve owned many Cobra products before (including radar detectors) and have been very happy with them which is the reason why I bought this detector. Unfortunately this was not the case with this product and I took it back. On one of our major e-ways in Southeast Mich., (I-696 for you locals) This detector must have gone off falsely at least a dozen times from one end of the expressway to the other. . .in city mode. And the alarms lasted for a good long time. When I exited onto I-275, the detector again went off continuously for the 6 mile stretch I was on it. False alarms were both of the K-band and the Ka-band variety, with a mixture of the road hazards and train alerts thrown in for good measure. Much too much noise for my driving. I owned a passport previously (which stopped working on me suddenly one day) and never, and I mean never had nearly as many false alarms as this detector had on the same road. If Cobra has made their sensitivity greater at the expense of more false alarms, I don''t think it is a good trade off. If you live in more of a rural area, this may be a fine detector to have. However in city, there is too much noise that it seems eager to alert you to.

Cobra, Uniden, Passport. The passport is the best I''ve use to date.
