Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $139.00 from onlinecarstereo.com

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 MB Quart RKC-116

Summary:
I am sure the speaker is great, but it did not fit my application. This is where the trouble begins. I returned it to onlinecarstereo.com to be informed via an e-mail that I will be charge $60 beyond the normal restocking fee and shipping because there are missing parts? No explination of what is missing, just a charge. After finally getting through to them and speaking with a manager, I learn the missing parts are the speaker wires with in-line crossovers. The problem here is there were no wires or crossovers included in the box when I received the speakers. The seal on the box was broken prior to it being shipped to me. Management refused to believe my story and was very rude, blantantly accusing me of lying. I will not be back to buy anything from them again.

Strengths:
Fast to ship, just make sure it's all there!

Weaknesses:
Return ploicy and customer service is one of the worse I have ever experienced.

Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $119.00 from thezeb.com

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002

Summary:
These are good speakers for the inexpensive price which you can find them on the net. They seem to have good low extension, but as with many metal tweeters (esp. MB Quarts) they can be too bright. My complaint, like others have mentioned, they aren't very efficient therefore need slightly more power to be heard. They are good rear speakers overall. I should note that one speaker of my first pair did fall apart...the voice coil detached from the cone. The zeb, were I bought them, gave me no hassle on swapping them out. My review number will be based on the price that I paid, not retail.

Strengths:
Good overall rear speaker

Weaknesses:
Not efficient at all

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $260.00 from Mach 1

Summary:
I have had these and a pair of very similar eclipses. I love both of them but the eclipses seem to only last 3-5 months(not acceptable). i decided to try the MB quart 6.5's and they were almost identical in sound quality. the eclipses sound better at average volumes, but the MB quarts are willing to go a little louder. my ears start to hurt before the average listener notices the distortion. I power these with a PPI amp that puts out about 125 watts RMS to each speaker, this is higher than recomended, but they handle it just fine. i have used these speakers for two summers with out a problem. the only thing i have against them is that my subs just cant keep up. once i find a sub that can go as loud as my 6.5"s i will be happy.

Strengths:
amazing sound quality that compares to speakers that cost much more. durability seems to be great. power handling

Weaknesses:
sound at low volumes leaves some to be disired.

Similar Products Used:
eclipse's most expensive 6.5 coaxle

Review 4 of 5

Price Paid:  $200.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 RKC 116

Summary:
Great at frequencies > 135Hz

You won't be able to listen to them loud if you cross them over lower than 135Hz, or thereabouts. They can't take much mid-base abuse.

Vocals and snare drum hits sound amazing.

I'm going to try making a three way system using these with some Kicker 6.5" mid-bass drivers.

Strengths:
Tight, clean sound in the upper frequency range.

Weaknesses:
Some times too bright. Weak mid range.

Similar Products Used:
Pioneer coax, Infinity coax, & MB Quart 5 1/4 Coax. Blow doors on Pioneer and Infinity. Slightly smoother than the 5 1/4" MB Quart.

Review 5 of 5

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2000

Summary:
First, let me say these speakers have nice low-end extension. Punchy and tight. Not recommended without amplification of at least 25 watts/channel. Secondly, they are a little bright on some tracks . . . ie Radio Head and other well recorded audio tracks. They are very nice with jazz and classical. However, with some EQ this should not be a problem and is not a detraction. When was the last time you had to turn the top-end frequency DOWN! The microdynamics of the tweeter is exceptional and I've not heard better other that High end home stuff or the Focal tweeters. THe woofer is almost the same as on the components with the same frequency character and responce. Tight, not very refined (Germans) and overall a very good coaxil. Would highly recommend. They seemed a little more defined than te JL', Infinity, and Bostons. You would have to spend arond $200 more than the 250 I paid to get etter sounding speakers.

Strengths:
Nice extension, puncy mid-bass, clean vocals and instramentals.

Weaknesses:
Need a lot of power to sound great. Imaging is not the greatest but they are in a car;)

Similar Products Used:
Infinity, Boston, Polk, Focal, JL Audio
