Price Paid:  $200.00 from Privately

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 ADS 6.5" Component speakers

Strengths:
Attention to detail, insert terminals on the woofers, nice basket, shallow mounting ( only 3 inches) Deep bass and detailed highs from the tweeters, and the crossover is just immaculatly made with many options to change the sound quality

Weaknesses:
None.

Summary:
This ADS model is the flagship model for the 2004 year. The speakers are very well made and will insert terminals to connect the woofers and a flat screw driver is needed to tighten the screws and it will accept wires up to 16 gauge on the woofer and the cross over as well. The woofers handle quite significant bass response from a driver this size going down to 40Hz and I had my cross over set at 80Hz and I got some really good bass response up front of the car where I mounted them but since they were in a door pods as wellangled to the centre roof of the car, and with the tweeters near the side mirrors angled to the opposite side, I got good full sound with accurate staging and imaging as well. The speakers were ran off a Rockford Fosgate 4600x feeding them around 120rms per side and it blended in well with my 12 inch single subwoofer that was fed 200rms. The silk dome tweeters produce nice detailed sound without overhang or being over bright like the high end titanium tweeters which I found to be a good match to the woofers. The crossovers can do wonders to your sound system and I really emphasise that all users read the manual as the cross over contains a few toggle switches to set them to your liking and so that you understand how it is done as well. I found the cross overs too large to place on the doors so I installed mine on the subwoofer box in the rear of the car. I really liked the built quality, attention to detail on the cross overs and the smooth sound of the silk dome tweeters and I think it would compliment any car as long as you use them with at least 70rms power with a good sound quality amplifier as well. Good on you ADS another superb job done!
