$150.00 Summary: Despite my thoughts on the mid-bass weakness, I actually like my speakers in the scense that I have them, so I use them. Perhaps if I had experience with any other car separates I would have a better frame of reference. I have experienced hundreds of home audio speakers and in terms of ultimate sound quality they are simply, average, OK. Hot in the mid-range and very sharp in the highs. I think the most important thing I can add to this forum is that I have owned my pair for 5 years and was shocked to see all the complaints of tweeter failure. I only run 50W / RMS per channel to them and they are in perfect condition. Granted my Blaupunkt V450 amplifiers feature the THDL feature which effectively will not allow the amp to clip. I can totally max all amp gains, EQ boosts and volume control but the amps will not clip. Actually in a test in Autosound & Security they confirmed that even with a 9V input, the amps never execeded 0.1 THD. Most people play loud music just shy of clipping which often results in a mildly audible 10% THD. Not too horribly bad considering at that point you are just rocking out but it is 100 times greater distortion than my Infinity's ever see. So in the regard I am protecting them as any user should be by keeping the amp just shy of clipping at high levels. My is pretty tame but very regularly runs near its 133dB max levels. While most think high power kills speakers, it is actually harsh semi-square waves produced by hard clipping that usually smokes tweeters quickly. But, if so many people are having a problem with the same set, there must be a problem. As for me, I have been waiting for these things to get damaged so I can buy a nicer pair of MB Quarts or Diamond Hex components. Strengths: None Weaknesses: Very little mid-bass output. Not expecting much, obviously but they barely even seem to cover the range down to my 90hz crossover point. I assume they would always be used with subwoofers, as mine are, but I could not ever recommend them for full range use as they sound way to thin alone. The highs are a little harsh too. Similar Products Used: Infinity Kappa 6.2Ci ? They were also a little thin sounding for nearly twice the price. Maybe it's just my doors.
