Price Paid:  $130.00 from Crutchfield

Year / Model Reviewed:
1998 Honda Civic

Strengths:
Highs are powerful, sometimes too harsh.
For 6 1/2 inch speakers, Bass Response is impressive.

Weaknesses:
Highs are powerful, sometimes too harsh.
I felt the midrange was weak, but maybe thats because I was only driving them with my Kenwood player. Might've sounded better with an amp.

Summary:
I bought these speakers to replace the factory speakers in my Civic. I ran them from my Kenwood KDC-X615 CD player. I was really impressed with the bass response for such a small speaker. I also thought the highs were very strong, but sometimes too harsh and they hurt my ears. The main thing about these speakers was that I always thought the midrange was weak. I had Clarion 6x9s in the rear and the vocals and instruments from the rear of the car always overpowered the front. The speakers did sound quite clear otherwise.
I eventually bought Polks for the front and moved the Vegas to the rear. It sounded BETTER because the Polks were great with the highs and midrange, but it STILL sounded imbalanced because the midrange was weak and the treble was too strong from the Vegas. That was all between 5 to 3 years ago, and now I have 4 new Polks all around.

Strengths:
Clean bass and treble. nice deep thumb. You can hear just about every accustic guitar string pluck. Dont do what I did, use a crossover if you can afford it, will help keep your investment sounding good for longer than 30 days. (unless you take pride in blowing speakers like me =)

Weaknesses:
didn't last long did it?

Summary:
After having excellent luck with the Vega E-712 loudspeakers in my house for 2 yrs, I decided to try out these 6 1/2's in my truck. Compared to stock speakers, these things sound GREAT!! Clean, crisp highs (if you like rock/hip hop/electronic music, not for the audiophile) and a good bass response. Compared to Polk and Sony, they have a much deeper, powerful bass. BUT!!! the fun had to end folks, when I went camping and cranked them up (no sign of distortion) for a couple hrs when one speaker blew. I dont know if it was a defective speaker, but it was not due to overpowering and I only had them for 30 days. I know Cerwin Vega takes pride in the fact that their speakers can handle more power than comprable speakers in its price range.

Sony X-Plode's are a little bit clearer, but less bass than CV's. Polks sound good soft, CV's sound good LOUD =) oh yea, I replaced the busted ones with Infiniti Kappa 63.3i they sound better, but cost almost $100 more

Price Paid:  $105.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1999

Strengths:
LOUD,TREBLE IS SHARP AND BASS IS GOOD. THE VOICE IS REALLY CLEAR AND LOUD,I HEARD WORDS AND BACKROUND EFFECTS I DIDNT HEAR WITH MY OLD CLARIONS.

Weaknesses:
IM GOING TO SAY NONE! VERY GOOD SPEAKER FOR FACTORY UPGRADE AND/OR BETTER SOUND FOR THE MONEY.

Summary:
these will put out nice clean vega sound into your car nomatter how u power em just dont play them at distortion levels. best if amped up 60 watts or 70-80 watts wont hust either just dont distort them and they with last for years and years.these are the best speakers you can find for 100 dolars on the net.

JBL,CLARION,POLK DX,SONY,KENWOOD,VEGA STEALTH'S-ARE GOOD ALSO BUT DONT COMPARE TO VEGA6002.THESE SPEAKER BLOW AND OTHERS JUST PLAN OUT SUCK! I would recommend these coaxials for rear fill and the vega2650 components for front mids highs, becuz the components are way better for mid-bass.

Price Paid:  $65.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Vega6002

Strengths:
These speakers have excellent bass response, and their tweeters put out treble quite nicely. I put component speakers up front after purchasing the Vega6002s and the components are much better. Because the tweeter is built into the speaker cone, you lose a ton of base comparitively. But, if you can't have components. They're AWESOME. Great buy, especially because I got them on my employee discount for 65 bucks.

Weaknesses:
The bass is much less than my components, but they're excellent speakers. So, none.

Summary:
GOODGOODGOOD. BUY THEM.

Review 5 of 8

Price Paid:  $85.00

Strengths:
Screaming highs, good mids and bass.

Weaknesses:
Screaming highs, easy to distort bass when amped.

Summary:
Overall these speakers are great. They sounded good when being run by a Pioneer DEH-P8000 and no amp. Had to turn down the treble from +5/+6 to around 0/+1. Mounting them in a Prelude was tricky. Needed to remove magnet caps to mount in rear deck (hit trunk support rods).

Just installed a PPI 4240 amp to push the Cerwins. IT'S NOW A WHOLE NEW BALLGAME! If you like it quiet, set the x-over around 50 h/p. If you want it loud, trim the bass and set them around 75-90hz h/p. You will swear you have a set of small subs in the trunk... very, very clean and crisp. But when amped, it is very easy to push the bass too far. They sound good with any music i play through them...

*Note: Don't purchase the speakers in a store, you will get ripped, even on "sale". Retail is between $150-$160. Actual cost, about $65. Look around online and you can find them between $85 and $115.
