Strengths:
Affordable
Powerfull midbass
Fairly "Smooth" sounding
Fairly clear treble

Weaknesses:
Midbass can overpower midrange...
treble is often either too weak or too bright

Summary:
I paid $40 on ebay (new in box), they're definitely worth it. They're being run off of 14 watts RMS from a Clarion 7575z CD player, installed in the factory locations (lower front corners of doors) of a '90 Acura Integra.

These speakers have impressive midbass for their price. The problem is that the midbass is somewhat muddy, and tends to overpower the midrange. Vocals don't come out that well. The tweeters can be either too weak, almost perfect, or too bright depending on the music. It sounds strange, but I've never noticed this with other speakers. I'm sure an external amp would help these speakers sound much better...off of my CD player, they don't get that loud before distorting. The speakers seem to sound best playing punk and reggae...they don't do too well with rap.

If you can get these for under $50, I say go for it. For someone wanting to spend about $100, I would say go listen to some Infinity Kappas, they do have a much clearer sound than the Denons.

Similar Products Used:
Infinity Kappa 6.5 & 5.25" 2 way coaxials (same power as the Denons, in the factory door & deck locations of a '93 Camry sedan)...they are cleaner sounding, treble & midrange comes out much better, but midbass is weak compared to the Denons.
