Price Paid:  $88.00 from Sound Advice

Year / Model Reviewed:
 DSC-123

Strengths:
For $88 I think this is the best speaker I've ever heard. The midbass is surprisingly strong for only being a 5.25" speaker. The highs are smooth and blend with the music well. Usually people acuse MBQ of having ultra-bright highs, but these sound perfect. Also, I haven't been able to make them distort. As my system nears full power, the PSD's are starting to distort, but the DSC's are still playing smooth.

Weaknesses:
The crossover is just a little tube. It gets the job done though. It makes it difficult to biamp because even when the woofer is hooked up to a different source, the tweeter still only gets half of the power.

Summary:
I had some Sony speakers in the back of my truck and they were screwing up my sound since I have MB Quart PSD 216's up front. I wanted a cheap set of speakers that sound great for the back of my car. So, I went and picked up the DSC 213 for 88 bucks. I wasn't expecting much because I've only heard mixed reviews about the Discus line of MB Quart speakers. I hooked them up to an MTX Thunder 152 amp (37w RMS) and let 'em rip. ... whoa!

Similar Products Used:
Great sound, even greater value. I think the $88 I spent on the DSC-213 has been my best investment so far, to tell the truth. It added much more depth to my sound and gave my music a fuller feel. These make awesome rear speakers and I'd bet they would make good front speakers too.
