Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $89.00 from sears

Year / Model Reviewed:
2006 TS-A6990R

Strengths:
Pioneer quality and design, they wrote the book on full range speakers

Weaknesses:
none

Summary:
Got two pair of these one in my jeep and one in my Nissan. Typical Pioneer Quality. Best 6x9 on the market especially when you consider frequency range. Put a good high end amp on these, use a crossover to cut out the extreme lows and crank them up. With a little power these speakers really shine.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $69.00 from Etronics

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 TS-A6990R

Strengths:
Sound Quality is the best! If you are looking for crystal clear music your wasting money buying anything else but these. 400w Max! Great to hook an amp to and to show them off to your friends.

Weaknesses:
Need an amp for sure to get the sound out that they are capable of. Car stereo power won't even turn on all all five seperate drivers.

Summary:
Let me start of by saying Pioneer is the most elite brand overall in car stereo and home theatre. They are reliable beyond belief, and have amaxing quality, and in car audio you cannot go wrong with them. They truly set the standard for all other companies to follow. That list includes Alpine, JBL, Eclipse, MTX Audio, JL Audio (Excluding Subs), Image Dynamics, and all the other companies that follow. Now on to the speaker. This pair of speakers is simply incredible. I have never heard this kind of sound quality out of any other pair of speakers (Except Pioneer REV). This beats Infinity Kappa, Rockford Fosgate Fanantic Q, Alpine Type R, everything in SQ. It is simply incredible. It is truly the best pair of 6x9's in the world behind the Pioneer REV TS-D690R, which hits as low as a 10" sub. When I first got this pair I hooked it up to my Pioneer DEH-P6400 deck to see what it sounded like playing off of stereo power. To say the least it was not the greatest sounding, but come on what car deck can power through five seperate drivers. So then I decided to get my Pioneer amp out. These speakers handle 400w max so I needed a good amp for these bad boys. My Pioneer amp put out 150w x 2 at 4ohms, and that is how much power I ran into them. I barely turned my stereo up and I was engulfed in music. It was like being at a concert, only in my car. The sq and volume I heard was amazing. There was no distortion at all, and I heard notes I come alive that I have never heard in another pair of speakers before. I was simply blown away. I then proceeded to put the speakers on the roof of my car. After I had I really turned my stereo up. What happened blew my friend and I away. Instead of hearing completley distorted music, I heard the best, most crisp music I have heard in my entire life. The SQ was almost as good as some home theatre speakers I have heard. We turned it up even more and began to walk away from the car. We heard the music crystal clear about a block and a half to two blocks away. We then came back because who knows how far away we would have had to walk before we couldn't hear it anymore. To put it simply we heard the best pair of car audio speakers we have ever heard in our lives.
