from E-Bay Year / Model Reviewed: dx 6 Strengths: Natural, Clear, Smooth Sound. Weaknesses: Bass but it is a 6 1/2 inch coaxial after all. Summary: About six months ago bought a used Nissan Maxima. It had MB Quart and Rockford Fossgate speakers. Well my 15-year-old was very impressed but I on the other hand have Thiel speakers in my home system. So although the stereo sounded impressive at times I also had a tendency to wince quite often. I began looking for a listenable/reasonably priced alternative and in my search I came across carreview.com and found the reviews on the Polk dx-6’s. All nine reviews were five star ratings with no exceptions. So as Polk has been known for making a fairly natural sounding speaker I decided to buy a pair to replace the Rockford''s.
I found a new pair on E-Bay for $90 including shipping/bought them and had them installed. Well not bad, in fact instead of wincing I''m now smiling and as far as I''m concerned that''s what it''s all about. Instruments now sound true; voices sound real and the bass although somewhat limited is accurate and not boomy. They are not Thiels but they don''t have to a price tag of $2400 either and they fit in my car. They also seem to blend well with the MB Quart’s, the Clarion CD, JBL amplifier and Stinger wire.
So I would like to thank the previous reviewers and add my five star rating of these speakers also. If you like a natural sound rather than "impressive" that strains the ear with coloration I don''t think you can go wrong with these speakers especially at this price range (and higher for that matter). Similar Products Used: Boston Acoustics, ADS, MB Quart, Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer...
