Strength:

It's called a perfect for a reason

Weakness:

I have yet to find 1

Absolutly the perfect mix if heavy bass and immaculent sq.

This subwoofer is much like the 12" w6v2, just cheaper.

Each subwoofer is being fed 450 RMS in a sealed enclosure 1.1 cubes each, and they love it.

Strength:

incredibly deep CLEAN bass at any volume

Weakness:

none so far

This subwoofer is AMAZING, you can throw everything you've got at it (including the kitchen sink) and it just begs for more, provides deep clean bass. I have friends with dual 12 inch setups with ported boxes and they can't come close to the sound my 1 12 in a sealed enclosure pumps out.

Strength:

Perfect music reproduction. Extended low end response. Large x max Attractive design.

Weakness:

Absolutely none. Be confident you are making a smart purchase. This is a great driver.

This is a very high quality subwoofer. I have it in a 1.9 cubic ft slot vented enclosure running off of an mtx 501 2 channel amplifier briged to 1 channel. (and an external subsonic filter) The amp puts out 400 watts rms. This sub will play very low frequencies, but is also very tight. The suspension is tight enough for vented enclosures, but is also loose enough for sealed enclosures. The driver makes absolutley no noise during operation. It is well constructed. If used improperly and you allow it to flex beyond it's limits you will cause damage to the spider/voice coil. Use a subsonic filter when the driver is installed in a vented enclosure. This sub is intended for dead on music accuracy. Do not expect to compete in spl competions with this driver. It was not built or intended to be used in this application. Be smart and follow the instuctions set forth by the manufacturer. You will be happy with your purchase.

Strength:

Great SQ, very good SPL very durable high sensitivity (96 dB)

Weakness:

none so far...

I have 2 of these in a custom box in the back of my 98 Camaro. I researched subs for a long time and I wanted something that was loud but would sound good with rock too. These speakers seemed to fit that description best, and I would not hesitate to buy them again. I have not had any problems with them at all and they seem very durable. The SQ theses things are capable of is amazing. I realize these are not made for SPL but I have heard from many people that I probably have the loudest system in my high school. A large part of this is probably the car but still I am very impressed with them. The best part is I am only powering them with a 1600 watt Sony amp (for now), so they are not even being pushed to their full potential. For the money, these are probably the best subs out there IMO. I got them for $125 a piece plus shipping off Ebay. Just make sure you get a capacitor or second battery as the amount of power these subs draw sure dims your lights. Hope this helps.

Strength:

Superb SQ excellent SPL Never distorts plays loud with minimum power Great looks

Weakness:

quite expensive if paying retail, but good deals can be found on the internet so I still give it a 5 in the value rating Best bang for the buck. 3 year warranty old models had weak tinsels but resolved with newer models

For those wondering about the durability of these subs......Don't. I have had these subs for over 5 years now and they have yet to skip a beat. Keep in mind, I bought mine before they fixed the tinsel lead prob. The earliest models(Perfect 12) had a problem with tinsel leads breaking, but have since been replace with the (Perfect 12.1) model where the prob was fixed. Fortunately infinity has a 3yr warranty.. I have been impressed with these subs since the first day I used them. They just play so unbelievably low without any hint of distortion. excellent punch with no indication of lag- I believe this is due to the lightness and rigidity of the aluminum cone. Can play loud with minimum wattage, but the more you feed it, the more it chews it up and spits it out in the form of loud incredible deep BASS!!! I've had all sorts of amps hooked up to this thing ranging from 200 watts to 500 watts rms and it played beautifully with them all. But the higher you go with the rms power the cleaner and louder and harder it will play. i've also had this thing in all types of boxes from sealed to bandpass, but my preference is ported. Sealed will play cleaner and will handle the most power. the bandpass played well but had a very narrow frequency width which is typical for bandpass. The SQ of this sub is amazing but don't be afraid to turn it up because it has great SPL as well. The highest I've had it hit im my accord in a ported box with 400w rms was 141.7 during an spl competition. Only good enough for 4th place. But I had one 12 while others had 2 10's and running upwards of 1000's of watts. So obviously there are louder subs out there, but for much higher $$$$ and they don't sound as good as the Perfect.

Strength:

Amazing sub. Great SQ and SPL. Amazingly high sensitivity. Overall, I truely believe that these subs are the best on the market. Good luck finding subs with higher sensitivity(very important), SPL, SQ, and total bang for your buck. 300 watts RMS (loud at low watts) 14mm XMAX (Good SPL) 96db sensitivity (amazingly high!!!!!) good build quality

Weakness:

the 12.1's are single 4ohm voice coils. they took about 6 months to really break them in which got them very well sounding and very loud. Not really a bad thing, just anticipate this. the 12.1DVQ's have a low 89db sensativity.

Buy these online for around $100-150 each. I purchased 2 Infinity perfect 12.1's when they first came out. Retailed for $350 ea. I hooked them up to an Xtant 1001dx at 2ohms. I figure each sub gets around 300 watts rms with +12db@45hz. I mounted them in a custom box that I made. 1 cu ft sealed/ea. HDF (high density fiberboard is 110lbs a board vs 65 for MDF. HDF has a lower resonance frequency which sounds better with subs.) 1.5" exterior thickness, .75" divider. Used some kind of Horse Urine resin glue that was stronger than cement and some nice wood screws. Applied DynaLiner spray (to reduce residual waves inside the box). And used brass bolts with 8gage banana plug recepticals (radio shack) for terminals instead of them cheap plastic quick disconnects. Torqued them bolts at about 200inch pounds to ensure air tight seal(they are solid!) Finally used a window weather seal instead of the foam seal for the sub-to-box mounting. Worked out much better than the factory foam seal that infinity provides you. Awesome Box. The two subs were perfectly matched to my Boston pro 6.5-3 components that are in custom fiberglass kick panels and the 6.5" in a fiberglass door pod(a ton of work to get these working in my sunfire) which were powered off of an Xtant 404m (now powered off a Phoenix Gold ZPA0.3 Heh heh heh!) I hit 145db before I blew the rubber seal in my trunk. I have 2 gage welding cable ($0.45 a foot, rated for 5000 watts) running back from my alternator to my Alumapro 15 farad cap in the trunk. I use Peel-and-Seal instead of Dynamat. Not many cars sound better than mine. I have great SQ and enough bump in my trunk to make most Audiophiles turn their heads and smile. My next step is to add two Boston Pro 8.5-2's in my 6x9 holes and make custom fiberglass enclosures.

Maybe the new JL 12w6v2 will sound better, but will require about 200 more watts to get there (85db sensitivity vs infinity's 96db)

powerful clean bass.

Weakness:

none if you go buy the specs.

I've got two of these running off a Precision Power pcx1250 which is 500 watts at 2 ohms and they just sound beautiful in a 1.25 cubic foot sealed box. Just don't be like those idiots who try and put a thousand watts to them and end up looking stupid because they don't go by the specs.

Strength:

-GET REALLY, REALLY, LOW (IN A CAR) -Dont need much power to make these pound -Best sounding subs i have EVER heard -They are louder and get lower than my friends two 15" sonys(even with my sh|tty amp)

WOW. I have this sh|tty sony receiver feading them 100 watts each, and already ive knocked over cups dishes and paintings in all of the rooms in my house. By the way, i bought these for home use, since I have many parties at my house. The only thing I can say is BUILD YOUR OWN BOX. It took me about 6 hours total, but it sounds SOOO much better than this pro box my friend has (cost him $150). It only cost me $15 for the wood, and maybe $30 dollars for supplies. Go to any good lumber place, say your building a car sub, and theyll pretty much cut all the wood for you. I think it's worth it to put these two retail $350 subs in a custom sealed box. Soon I'll get a JBL BP600.1, (btw the best amp for these subs) and it'll really be pounding hard.
