Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $120.00 from Highway Hi-fi

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1988 10" Passive tube

Strengths:
Compact size. Low power input needed. Very efficient.

Weaknesses:
Not a big power handler.

Summary:
I purchased two of these tubes and I have used the original tubes with original woofers since 1988. 14 years of pounding, a wife and two kids later, they are still rocking hard. I had 35 watts running to each in a 280zx and was able to attain SPL's of 132dB. I now have 125 watts running to each and haven't had it rated yet, but it is probably in the 137 range. Haven't heard a bass sound more pleasing to my ear for this price point ever.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $150.00

Strengths:
Can get quite loud with a good amp. Light and doesn't take up too much room. Can be run and sound ok with a weak low quality amp.

Weaknesses:
Overpriced. Doesn't go really low like a true sub should. Sound Quality could be better.

Summary:
It can add some lower punch notes to a factory system. Wouldn't recommend it to serious audio listeners because it lacks good sound quality. Its not an spl contender alone but may get you respectable spl with a multiple setup and a strong amp. The 8" bazooka bass tube would be a better option because its smaller than the 10" and there is only a hint difference in the sound and loudness. Wouldn't pay more than $160 new.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $130.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 EL 104 Passive sub 10"

Strengths:
Gets loud and some SQ. Compact and comes with strap harness to hold it in place. No big amp needed to run it, it takes 200 watts max.

Weaknesses:
Tends to distort at high volumes with 250 watts to it.

Summary:
I would recommend this sub system to anyone who want to add a sub to their factory system. Good starter sub. I now have 3 Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1's and soon to add 3 more!!!!!!!!

Other low to mid class subs.
