Review 1 of 13

Price Paid:  $350.00 from ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 2 competition 12's

Strengths:
loud and easily powered... distinctive sound differences for frequencies and accurately produces intended sounds from music.... insanely hard to distort unless you add too much power to them... more of a mature sounding sub in terms of sounds quality with a vibrant kick if wanted

Weaknesses:
plain look.. deep and requires a fair sized box to make a decent sound.. but if done right, they sound amazing

Summary:
could quite possibly be the best subs ever... no lies.. i baught USED 2 12 in boston acoustic 12 in competition series subs with 2 alpine MRD-M301 amps and a rockford fosgate 1 farad capacitor for 350 off ebay and was amazing. i also have the pro series componant 6.5's in the back and 5.5's in the front with an alpine head unit... to power the speakers, planet audio 100x4 amp... the subs are the best part of the system... they don't need the power that you think to run... they kick with about 300w going to each... could be one of the loudest systems around... with definetly the best quality sound because that was ultimate goal

Similar Products Used:
MTX 8000 series 12's, audiobahn 12's, sony explode 12's, visonets 12's, rockfor fosgate 10's...

Review 4 of 13

Price Paid:  $180.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2000

Strengths:
-wicked sub for us non bass heads -sound quality -bostons reputation

Weaknesses:
I don''t like to read review where people have this wicked sub hooked up to those cheap kenwood 600watt amps them complain about the subs lacking performance. You are what you eat and thats the same for a sub, you give it $hit power it will give $hit sound.

Summary:
I am very impressed with this sub, it has went beyond all my expectations. I am 32 years old and have heard many stereos in my day and I boston has the best sounding speakers going. I have2 of these subs in my 97 ford explorer running off of a major powerful rockford bd 1000.1. The reason I chose this amp is not to over power and blow my subs my to have tons of control over them so every musical note is tight and exact. Not to mention I don''t listen to my music loud enough to blow these because I don''t feel like ruining my hearing. For anyone who wants a ground pounder that can realy shake, look somewhere else. But for the rest of us this is a ideal sub. I have mine in a nice fiberglass enclosure and I have all boston pro series mids and tweets to compliment this sub. I would recomend meeting or over powering this sub just to get the most of the sound quality, but if you like me and have the overpowered watch out you don''t blow the because it will be very easy.

Strengths:
Good sub for most bass applications. Encloseure size at about 1.0 cu.ft.

Weaknesses:
None.

Summary:
Ok, so maybe I was a little hard on Boston in my last review. I called them up and told them what happend and guess what!!! They sent me new one in less than a weeks time. The new one is great so far and has handled well. I would like to rerate the sub at four stars and Boston customer service at five stars.
