Price Paid:  $55.00 from @Radioshack

Summary:
I bought these subs as a temporary item for my 300zx.I am going to get some expensive subs but I needed something small until then.I liked the subs all around since I started selling them. The only thing I did't like of course was the low power handling ability (600watts Max),The rms (300rms) and the Sensitivity (89.1db@1watt/meter.)I have dealt with car audio for 4+yrs on the professinal level and understand quality to full extent .My worst fears were that I was going to blow them up plain out, lol.I was hooking them up on my Visonik 1200watt class D amp. It is a mono block and produces that @1ohm.Well to avoid that problem I put each sub's coils in series @8ohms (each coil actually tested @4.4ohms). Then I paralled them for 4ohm total.Secondly I turn my amp 3/4 on gain, Subsonic Filter Boost @50Hz, Bass Boost +18db, LPF @175hz. I have a Pioneer Premier DEHP660MP w/4.0volt Preouts.I set my preout @63hz @0db boost(goes +6db or -24db) Bass Boost @3(goes 0-6),50Hz on graphic EQ @-2db and 125Hz @0db. Then I took a deep breath, turned my amp on.
Then slowly turned it up. Also consider this it is in a box I built that is 1.93cubic ft. Per side(has a wall dividing them). Well, all in all they impressed me. They were hard to get used to because I had just got rid of 2 Audiobahn 15's that was hitting upper 140's with the same amp and rest of the stereo and were in a box that was 1.98cubic feet per side on their box. Point blank is they are 12's, and 12's will sound like 12's. There are few prevailing brands will low wattage 12's that sound unlike other 12's but they usually cost alot more. Good quality, Good sound, don't know how long they will hold up but with what I paid I can't complain. Somebody email me with some questions cause I am always bored and willing to answer any car audio questions.

Strengths:
Price.Decent sound quality. Would recommend for decent small stereo with good sound.

Weaknesses:
Sensitivity too low, 600watts max, 300watts rms, Not enough excursion, Needs more meat on it's bones but for the price good enough.

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Toms CB

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 cerwin vega hed dvc 12" subs

Summary:
I found that the HED'S are very picky in reguards to enclosure and air space ! But once they where in a sealed enclosure with .87 cu.ft. internal volume after driver displacement. And I also did my usual glass work,poly-fill etc. then thew 175 watts rms to each sub. BOOM they came to life. They HIT in the mid-upper 140'S !! They hit accurately yet cycle extremely low.

Strengths:
EXCLLENT value for the money

Weaknesses:
You can not just throw them in a prefab box. They prefer clean power.

Price Paid:  $120.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001/Cerwin Vega HED 12DVC

Summary:
I dont liked this sub. Not much bass and not good sound quality. It maybe was those because amp was average level. I have it on SIMEX CBA-180 (180w RMS/2 0hm) amplifier. And subs RMS powerhandling was 200w RMS. And the sub was making strange noise. I think that the HED subwoofers are good but my one was injured or too weak amplifier. Sorry my bad english.

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $120.00 from Best Buy

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002 / HED DVC 12

Summary:
This is a excellent sub for the price I paid for them new ($60 each). I've been pushing them with about 600 watts at 2 ohms from a kenwood excelon ever since I first bought them (about 5 months ago). They show no wear and sound very decent. Not as loud as some JL W0's but very close and for half the price.

Strengths:
Very decent sub Inexpensive Moderate sound output

Weaknesses:
Not as loud as JL W0's but also aren't as expensive either.
