Review 1 of 14

Price Paid:  $25.00 from ebay

Summary:
Very good quality for a low budget. It does kind of distort easily with higher wattate. I would say it runs best at about 150 watts rms. It hits hard and has long low notes. Nothing bad about it except when at higher volume levels I could hear the voicecoil rubbing/bottoming out (distorting).

Strengths:
nice bass for lower wattage

Weaknesses:
distorts at higher wattage and higher volume

Similar Products Used:
jl w3, alpine E, clarion sws

Review 2 of 14

Price Paid:  $85.00 from ebay.ca

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1999

Summary:
i saw this on ebay for pretty cheap so i grabbed it. I hooked it up on a cheap pyramid 500 watt amp (12db bass boost) with my kicker comp vr 10(i know u shouldn''t mix subs but anyway) its a great sub and all for low cost but my kicker outpounds it badly when i have the voice coils hooked up in parallel. Its a loud sub and all just cant take the lower sounds that my kicker can. Still a good sub. Put it in a ported box with some polyfil and the lower frequencies get better. Good sub overall but just not what i''m looking for.

Strengths:
clear good overall sound, goes lower if u put it in the right box.

Weaknesses:
doesnt go too low

Similar Products Used:
kicker, pyramid, pioneer, alpine, rockford

Review 3 of 14

Price Paid:  $99.00 from Circuit City

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T

Summary:
Great starter sub. Hits hard. I am very please. I was very skeptical when buying a $50 sub but I needed one fast since my other one got a hole punch through it by something in my trunk. I decided to go with JBL because I love JBL speakers. Every speaker I own is a JBL. These greatly outweighed my expectations. The price I listed was for two. I got 2 for $99.

Strengths:
Great speaker for the price. I''ve seen them online for about $35 a peice (competitiondirect.com) and that''s an awesome deal. They sound great and hit hard.

Weaknesses:
Doesnt hit as hard you raise the volume pretty high. I dont know if that is my amp or the sub.

Similar Products Used:
Pioneer, Audiovox

Review 4 of 14

Price Paid:  $49.00 from circuit city

Year / Model Reviewed:
 lcs1200

Summary:
Not bad for the price but dB dragsters and serious audiophiles will not be pleased. However, these are some of the best entry level subs I''ve seen- for $50 a piece they hit hard.

Strengths:
These subs are excellent for the price. Sound good above 45Hz.

Weaknesses:
Bassheads-do not buy these subs. Very low frequency resp. is virtually nonexistant.

Similar Products Used:
MTX Thunders hit way lower, harder pioneers are a joke, both MTX&JBL blew them away, Audiobahns better than all of the above, RF also impressive

Review 5 of 14

Price Paid:  $40.00

Summary:
A great sub for the price. Very good for an enry level subwoofer or just something to fill in the lower frequencies with. Won't blur your vision, but still, a great sounding subwoofer.

Strengths:
Nice bass for the price and can handle copious amounts of bass in the 40-90hz frequency range. They are build very well and CAN handle LOTS of power without popping. I have a tested MTX amp pushing a RMS of 384 watts with 18db of bass boost. I was sending a clean 10 volts of signal through the RCA's and this sub managed to stay together in the 1.3 cubic foot sealed box. With this exact setup, I blew 2 MTX 3000 12's with the same amount of power and volume. Trust me, these subs can handle the power.

Weaknesses:
Will begin to fall off in volume and quality below 40hz. Not good for listening to 'bass head' music and test tracks, but they are great for individuals who are trying to fill in with extra bass. The loud and clears will put out enough to make your ears ring a bit, but of course nothing like a high dollar sub.

Similar Products Used:
MTX 3000, MTX5000 (which play much much lower and about 3 times as loud)
