Review 1 of 6

Price Paid:  $250.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2006 Kicker L7 12

Strengths:
all

Weaknesses:
they can take a butt load of power and keep going with proper break in period.

Summary:
I've been hearing a lot of people talk about how bad kicker subs are , by that i mean how much they suck..... well i'm here to tell you different. heres the real scoop on kicker subs , I've been in car audio for about 18 years and since kicker first came out thats what I have been using in my vehicles period. I have used others and was dissapointed with their performance and quality as well. Now I'm also a car audio professional installer ( Master Installer )MECP certified ... as far as my current system that I have right now well i don't know about all these people saying they blew their back windows out and rattling billboards while driving , and shattering windows in stores while driving past them , honestly that's BS! period you can't do that. period ... ask Alma Gates she knows about high spl and what it can do and call kicker tech and talk to Travis or Jeremy they can tell you the truth.. period. back to my system, I have a 1993 GMC Jimmy 4 door s series (Blazer) same thing , single 450 amp custom alternator from ohio generator, upgraded alternator wire , starter wire, dual runs of 4/0 gauge welding lead wire from the front battery(kinetik)to back batteries ( 4 kinetik ) bus bars for the rear batts and all 0/0 power wires and ground wires for the amps, no capacitors are used...period, six (6) kicker L7 12" subs in two seperate enclosures each sub has its own box 2.15 cubic foot of air per sub ,tuned at 45 hertz 30 square inch port opening, ( six ) kicker ZX 1000.1 sub amps , one kicker ZX 850.4 components amp , and three set of kicker RS 6.5" components... now for the truth in spl and big bass the real truth..period . I had my truck metered at a DB drag competition in Daytona Beach Florida in 2006 on a Term Lab meter and an Audio Control , and a Linear X meter and it is documented in writing and an official spl form ., legal on the dash and doors closed.. take into consideration i have only stripped the truck before install and completely dynamatted the whole truck every panel is double layered and doors and floor ,and roof , no plexi windows or reinforced doors just an everyday driver ...period ,,,,.. legal spl was 166.7 legal ..period and if you are a disbeliever in a 166 let me explain it hurts !!!!!!!!! period it sucks the air out of your chest if you sit in the truck with the doors shut and I don't reccomend it , and you cannot see straight and you know the hair tricks you see at the big shows well it will make your hair stand up for real. period , but i havent shattered my windows and havent rattled anyones signs or physically moved anyones vehicle next to mine , but if you are ever in the Mobile Alabama area you will hear of my truck and if you see me out and about stop me and i'll show you what kind of damage kicker can do to your body, ears eyes and lungs free of charge ha ha but really if we meet lets talk and i can share tips and tricks of the car audio spl trade and people who dissmiss kicker as a passing phase yeah right get real man.. thats what people were saying about not being able to break the 180 db barrier but guess what Scott Owens did it and with Pioneer , remember what they said about Pioneer .... nuff said .. period

Review 2 of 6

Price Paid:  $199.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 JL AUDIO W6

Strengths:
Picks up like a motha. It can pick up the most of power you put on it, and still will not have a prob, with the sub. It's designed for the high potential of any mans' will.It gives you a loud variety of bass, whether it be back-up bass, or direct hard bass, it gives a super loud variety..It also gives you a traveling bass, unlike a fosgate which just gives the direct hit whom is hard to hear from a block away or so.

Weaknesses:
The only weakness is that I want more..They are 200 a piece.

Summary:
A lot of people say that the kicker hits hard, but the truth is that the jl audio has real watts. It may have less watts, but are still real watts. Not fake watts...Some may say 1000 watts kicker is better, but are less money than a jl (which is 300-400 watts)much of the real reason is because of the real watts..Thats why when you put a 1000w speaker(like kenwood, jensen, sony, acustic, kickr, etc), with a 500-800 watt fosgate amp, most likely the speaker will pop, or be unlined.

Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $200.00 from ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002

Strengths:
Hits like a mofo. Low bass you can feel only with a 15 like this. Great price for performance.

Weaknesses:
Lacks midbass, but you can expect that with any 15.

Summary:
I got this sub hooked up to a kx600.1 amp by kicker in a ported box in my 200 impala ls and it hits!! I hear lows in songs that I have never heard before. You can definitely feel the bass this sub puts out, especially in the back seat. It pounds more than any two 12's I have heard except two solobaric 12's. But when I get a second I will hit harder than two solo 12's.

Review 4 of 6

Price Paid:  $205.00 from Ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2002

Strengths:
Make people turn their heads at break neck speeds. Hits so deep and i love it.

Weaknesses:
Will suck a lot of power so a capacitor is a MUST.

Summary:
This is the best subwoofer i have ever owned. At first i had some 12 inch jl's and a 500/1 amp. This system also kick butt but i wanted to try out a different sub for my new veichle.(99 Sonoma, ext. cab) I have the BEAST in a sealed 3 foot enclosure and i have no regrets. This is one vicious sub that can do some real damage. Put in one of the bass disks and push play, then stand back, waaay back. I'm afraid that this sub will slowly destroy my sweet ride. If your a real basshead then this is a must buy. Peace
