Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $69.00 from Sterro Shop

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 RFP3408

Strengths:
Rockford Fosgate. say what you will, I always find a place for some RF gear in just about every system. This product can and will take some abuse while at the same time producing SPL above what you might expect for a small sub.

Weaknesses:
The only thing I don't care for is that you have to make your own grille to protect the speaker. This is not a weakness so much as a minor irritation, and is common to many newer speaker designs which utilize much larger surrounds and greater excursions. The typical "universal" grilles do not allow enough clearance for this type of speaker.

Summary:
This sub may only be an 8", but it can provide a respectable amount of output in a small sealed enclosure. It can play some very low notes with reasonable accuracy and is a good value for an application with very limited space. Compared to similar subs in the middle of a given company's product line, this one is up there with the best of them.

Similar Products Used:
I have installed and or used many different subs from just about every major manufacturer.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $73.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 RFP3408 HE 8"

Strengths:
The space that is left in my trunk after I had already installed it.

Weaknesses:
None that I know of yet.....

Summary:
I had my doubts that an 8" woofer could provide me with enough bass. However, since Rockford Fosgate makes it, I gave it it's due attention. I bought a Q-Logic .35 cubic inch enclosure and bridged it to a Kenwood KAC-PS201T (200x1). Last year I had a 10" Infinity Perfect and I was feeding it around 325 watts from an MTX 2150X amp. It hit VERY hard. So, just the other day, I install this 8" fosgate and think it probably won't hit anywhere near the Infinity Perfect. Well, it did!!!!!!!!! This little woofer can put out some bass. I had to turn down my head unit bass control to -3 on some Rock tunes I was playing. When I played some Rap, even with the bass control to -4 (the lowest) it still hit VERY VERY HARD!!!!! So, I think I'll buy another one. If you have a small car and don't want to take up too much space.....buy the Q-Logic enclosure and the Rockford Fosgate RFP3408 8" sub.

The early 90's Rockford 8" subs. These new models (the HE line) are fabulous, and look cool.
