Price Paid:  $170.00 from caraudioexpert

Year / Model Reviewed:
2002 XS-L1246

Strengths:
The aluminum cone could extend the life span of the subwoofer, that is if it isn't pushed to its limits.

Weaknesses:
The almuminum cone seemed to have hindered the sound quality rather than improve it on this particular subwoofer. It isn't versatile as far as enclosures either, it only sounds decent in a small sealed enclosure.

Summary:
Much like what everybody has said about Xplods in the past.. its true, they don't deliver the best SQ in the world. I got a pair of these as a christmas present at the end of 2002. There is some technologies that got my attention like the stroke stabilizer, but to no avail would that help the cone maintain linear throw. The aluminum cone was nice on the woofers, I really liked it at the time. I actually got some nice SPL out of these subwoofers, but then again they were in a bandpass enclosure being power by 320 watts RMS each, so no surprise. For the 2 years I owned these they didn't blow. They did distort, but that was only when I turned my volume up to 20 on my CDA-9807, something I rarely ever did. These subwoofers seemed to handle all the abuse I put them through in my more ignorant years. If you really want these, then I suggest putting them in a sealed enclosure. My bandpass enclosure really deprived them of sound quality.

Well.. two 10" Reactor subwoofers I bought at a flee market.
