I am convinced that ever since Farmer's and 21 Century merged it's been a relationship made in hell. I recently had my first accident (small fender bender). The Customer Service Reps & the Liability Adjuster HATE THEIR JOBS. They sounded don't answer your questions thoroughly and when you ask for clarification, they talk to you like you're a moron. They were VERY CONDESCENDING and want nothing to do with you. Prio to the merger, I received excellent service and my adjuster served as a great rep. She contact the other party's insurance and made sure I was taken care of. I made 2 calls and the next thing I knew, there was a check in the mail to cover my expenses. NOW, the adjuster said "that's not my job" every chance she got. There is ZERO accontability or HELP from these people. In fact, the NEW adjuster told me that it was MY RESPONSIBILITY to call the other party's insurance and to arrange for any reports or repairs. I ask you then "What PURPOSE does Farmer's/21st Century serve now??" I thought they were there to help take care of getting your claim attended to????? Right now, I am on hold AGAIN regarding my current claim. I'm looking at the time stamp and I've been on hold for 22 minutes!!! What the HELL??? The first time I called, the rep said that she only has access to 21st Century info and that my claim # was a Farmer's insurance claim #. She said "Since the merger, our systems have yet to be integrated so I do not have access to your claim nor can I give you ANY GUIDANCE, you should call 1-800-435-7764". I'm stuck in hold now for 24 MINUTES!!!! I am canceling this policy as soon as my claim is finalized. STAYY AWAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

You recently sent a hard copy for me to evaluate the recent contact with 21st Century when I went to Ashland Glass to have my windshield repaired from a rock.
I must have misplaced the evaluation because I meant to return it and can't seem to find it. Just wanted you to know how pleased with the contact that both I and the professional technician had with 21st Century. I believe this was the last week of August 2010 or close to that time.
21st Century dealt with the issue immediately so I was able to have the car windshield repaired immediately.

Absolutely none!

Weakness:

customer service. High quote.

I just called for an auto insurance quote from 21st century and have never encountered customer service this bad!! I have excellent credit and have been told by other companies that I am a desirable client. And yet the reps were extremely rude! If this is how they handle customers asking for a quote, I can only imagine how they treat policy holders trying to make a claim. If you go with them, good luck.

Strength:

Prompt handling of claims, dividends, reasonable rates.

Weakness:

Slow notification of cancellation of insurance.

I have been an Amica insurance customer for four years and until recently I would have rated them as "excellent". Their performance when I filed claims (one accident my fault 2004, one stolen CD player 2003)was excellent - they paid promptly. In addition, Amica makes dividend payments most years! But just lately I started a job as a courier and I notified Amica immediately. A week later they told me that I was not covered when I was driving as a courier (so I was driving a week without insurance and I didn't know it!) and they do not handle commercial policies so I must find another insurance company.

I have been a 21st Century policy holder for over 5 years. This year was the first time that I had to file a claim, and it has been the worst experience for me. The accident wasn't even my fault, and yet, they're treating me like it was my fault! Not only did I get absolutely horrible customer service from 21st Century, but the price quote for my car was totally undervalued. They told me that it doesn't matter if the accident was my fault or not, they're still taking the deductible. How is that legal?? Also, just to let you know...Elizabeth Fong was my liability adjuster, and she was extremely nonresponsive to my calls and rude. As soon as my claim is over, I'm cancelling my policy. Don't use 21st Century!!

I have 13 years with this insurance company. I got the accident last month, and is first time for me to file a claim, and it's not my fault. But all I got is bad customer service and I have to do all the investisgation include contract the other insurance company and adjuster. This year I will absolutely not renew my auto insurance with this company.

Unfair claims practices

I was involved in an accident that was not my fault. I'm an 11 year policyholder and this is the first time I've ever made a claim for any kind of collision. 20th Century deliberately undervalued the cost of the repairs to my car leaving me with a huge out of pocket expense. Needless to say, I'm looking for different insurer.

Strength:

Can make periodic payments without large interest charge. Low rates. Good service.

Weakness:

Can only renew for 6 months at a time, so if your driving record is deteriorating, rates can increase faster.

When my son totalled his new car, that was less than a year old, they paid us the purchase price without deducting deprecciation. It is very easy to see and choose various coverage options/deductibles and see the cost for each. Payments can be spread over 8 payments per year, with only a small fee, unlike AAA that charged 12%, when I left, on the unpaid balance after the first month that coverage starts.

Extremely bad customer service.

This is the response I sent after the phone and Internet service I recieved. "Too bad you guys don't want my business, I called the number you list below, punch a bunch of numbers to get a new quote in California, for a motorcycle (and possibly my cars also), instead get a hold of a lady responsible for existing policy holders, who transfers me to marketing, get put on hold, then talk to a gentleman, tell him what I need, who then tells me all the motorcycle reps are busy and to leave a voice mail and they will get back to me........NOT my Idea of customer service, if this is how you treat potential new customers, makes me wonder how you treat your existing policy holders...Scary.....Maybe the rest of the BMW K1200LT riders group would be interested in this experience, but then again, we only have 2600 members at last count. That wouldn't make a dent in your bottom line I guess. Bob Rasters PS: Too bad your web site does not work either, does not take into account us motorcycle riders, most of us do have two or three cars though, another segment of the population you are ignoring.
