Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
What started out as a $1200/yr premium ended at $4000. The customer service was like talking to a wall and the Claims department and Sales Department blamed each other and sent me back an forth. Each Agent I spoke to gave me wrong information and I ended up with a rate 4 times what I was paying. On top of that they cant delete any information so BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DISCLOSE TO THEM. They are looking to rip you off!!!!!!!

Review 3 of 154

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I am a Paralegal who has to deal with Geico on a regular basis. By far (in addition to Allstate), the WORST group of claims adjusters I have ever come across. These people are lazy, rude, unprofessional and they have poor attitudes. They drag their feet to accept liability when all necessary documentation has been provided clearly indicating their insured is at-fault. They rarely pay out on legitimate bodily injury claims and are not accomodating in any way to the victims impacted by their at-fault insureds. I would never recommend Geico to my family, friends, clients, or even my worst enemy.

Review 4 of 154

Price Paid:  $18000.00 from Dealership

Year / Model Reviewed:
2002 Toyota Camry

Strengths:
Cost beats competition by about 10%

Weaknesses:
Customer service gone downhill, can't stand their foolish commercials, can't get any info on claims

Summary:
I've been insured with Geico for about 30 years. Back then they were very good, low cost, good customer service, very modest price increases (even lower my rate once, maybe twice over the years). But today they have changed. While their prices are still somewhat lower than most, they aren't that much better anymore (in the old days they might be 50% lower, today maybe 10% less). But customer service quality has dropped, and they now do blanket rate increases every year (not based on prior year claims but on increasing profit and shareholder value). Think about it, your car value decreases significantly each year but the cost of your insurance goes up each year! Why should I pay more to insure something whose value is much lower than last year?

As far as claims, Geico doesn't give you any information on what was paid on claims. I had an incident in which my car bumped another at a traffic light (at 2 mph) and made a tiny scratch on the other cars bumper. I'd really like to know what if anything was paid to the other driver, but Geico won't give this info out. Yeah, I got "accident" forgiveness (which many companies offer today), so it didn't affect my rate, but I'd really like to know what came of it. I think they like to keep you in the dark about stuff like this, though it seems I should have a right to this information given that it's my car insurance policy. I don't know about other companies but I would like a company that doesn't keep secrets from me.

Similar Products Used:
AMEX car insurance ... they baited me with a lowball rate for 1 year then jacked prices the following year, at least Geico doesn't do this!

Review 5 of 154

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 Tacoma

Summary:
Geico is super fast with check, but horrible with estimates. I had an estimate done on my car by the body shop, Geico's adjuster submitted an estimate for only half the parts. The body shop was forced to start work with the partial estimate, then had to call Geico back out with everything disassembled and prove that their original estimate was correct.

The final work done matches the body shop's estimate exactly. I'm out a car for an extra week and a half (4 weeks total) just because of an incompetent Geico adjuster.
