Summary:
>11 year history of being a State Farm customer. Filing a claim, which have only done 2 times in the past 11 years, used to be painless. The service used to be courteous and they paid for everything. I just filed a claim this past week (for about $500 worth of damage) and it was as if I'd asked for everybody's first born! My agent was incredibly rude, all of the customer service individuals were not prompt returning calls. I have to echo some of the sentiments on here - something has changed at State Farm. The only reason to pay their high rates is for their historically good customer service. Heck, after being treated like I was recently I may as well buy some crap insurance like Travellers...at least it would be cheaper for the same level of service.

Summary:
It's terrible dealing with state farm insurance. They used to be good, but it seems like they are making a lot of changes. My friends are experiencing difficulty with them. All they are doing is hurting their reputation and losing good customers. I will not recommend this company, they are extremely aggressive when you are trying to get them to fix a minor dent in the car! Seems like they don't want to pay for anything!

Review 3 of 136

Price Paid:  $13500.00 from 14000

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 Chevy/ Silverado

Summary:
I got my truck in April 2008 and got it totaled in August 2008. I was making a left turn and, when the guy that state farm insures T-boned me in to a utility pole trying to pass on a double yellow line. Anyway's they took fault and I am having the worst time with them to pay off my truck and getting my medical. The ladies at State Farm are Very Rude compared to the men. I was only able have a rent-a-car for seven days. They try to flash money in your face to see if your hard up for cash. They wanted me to take the cash not the rent-a-car.

This one lady there was always trying to argue about paying the truck off. She called my loan company and told them I was not going to be paying on the truck so they set out to file a repo title on me. I was Very Mad about that cause she lied. She was trying to make my life a living hell. To make a long part of the story short took them 4 months to pay the truck off plus with me oweing some left over, gap insurance yea, I had to make calls to get it paid for competely. When called I always ended up with someone new and having say every thing over again. I had just tell them I wanted to speak with only one person, thanks to him I got the truck part out of the way.

So now I am left with the injury department. This is more of a pain the the last part. I ended having to go back to the hospital for I was having pains in my chest from the wreck. I called them and told them about it and they said they would have to get a medical record to verify it was from the wreck. Well they still have not got the medical records, that I called in November, and they're still saying it the hospitals fault it is taking so long.

The people at State Farm treat you like you are dumb and don't know what is going on. They say the keep record on what you talk about on their system, but a lot of them don't record what you say in that conversation, so when recall what you said last they don't believe you.

I have been calling and calling I'm so tired of dealing with these people, it is unreal how slow, rude, bad faith, and lack for skills they have. I have been put out sense August 2008 of a new truck and medical bills it is going on May 2009 now. I have no repsect for these people my injury claim is taking longer than my truck claim. Luckly enough I have a great medical insurance company that I have just about paid off all of my medical bills, out of pocket, so that they will not go into collections and hurt my credit.

State Farm don't care about anything but money. I have been struggling sense this has happened. All the stuff I'm having to pay-out-off-pocket is just sad. My advice is anyone dealing with State Farm get a lawyer. They take the pain out of dealing with them. I wish I got one now, but it is to late cause it is not a big case now. So good luck if you have to deal with State Farm!!!

Strengths:
None, Their out for themself. Not out help you AT ALL

Weaknesses:
EVERYTHING!!
Poor customer service
bad faith
lier's

Review 4 of 136

Price Paid:  $12700.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 BMW

Summary:
I had state farm since I first got my drivers licence. My father had told me to always keep full coverage on my cars, so every one of my cars had a 250 deductible. I had just purchased a 3 series BMW and had it added to my policy. a month after buying the car i was in an accident, and my car ended up hitting a fence(state property). I had the car towed to a body shop and called state farm. where they told me i only had liability on the car. I argued with them back and forth for a little while and then they told me they would have it investigated. I did receive a call a few days later telling me that they were going to be looking at the call history to see if they had a recording of the call that i had added the car and to see if i asked for full coverage, I said please do. Anyways after 2 months of no answers, i received a phone call saying " since i had not received my first insurance statement on the BMW proving i had full coverage then i would only have liability" what happened to the voice recorded phone call when i asked for full coverage? anyways i was stuck with a totaled car and a $10,000 loan that Ive slowly been eating. Well today i get a letter in the mail saying they are holding my state tax return because the state has not been paid for the fence, which state farm said would be covered by liability. yay i owe Virginia another $2,700. Thanks to state farm!

Strengths:
I now have USAA.

Weaknesses:
They are deceiving crooks

Review 5 of 136

Price Paid:  $18500.00 from 18500

Year / Model Reviewed:
2009 Toyota Corolla

Summary:
My car got hit in the back when I was driving. Gentlemen who hit me had State Farm insurance and it is a nightmare. At first they was not able to file a claim properly and it took them 2 days. After that no one called me and when I tried to figure out what happened their customer support said it may take up to 40 day to process the claim. When I called next day they changed the story and said they can't locate another party which was strange sinse that guy filed the claim himself. After I provided them with his phone number they called me next day and scheduled the day and time their estimator would come to body shop and made rental car reservation for me. It had been two days from that date but no one showed up to make an estimate and my car still stays at autobody shop. When I called their customer support they said they don't know what is going on and their estimated won't be able to see my car during next 3 days. It is really good I don't have State Farm myself.

Strengths:
None

Weaknesses:
Bad customer supports, noneducated staff is not able to process simple claim. They can't coordinate with each other.
