Strength:

Nothing worth mentioning.

Weakness:

The Hertz company rips off its customers. I also has a serious problem with the quality of its employees.

We rented a car from Hertz (station: Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise) through rentalcars.com which was prepaid. When we tried to pick up the car, a rude and disgruntled employee named Mike argued it would be within his discretion to withhold the car unless we pay him an extra $103. When we refused to pay the extra amount he became aggressive and insulting. Finally the hotel management (very professional) helped us getting a car from another rental company. Of course, we complained at Hertz about this employee, Mike, but in the end we did not even get a full refund of our advance payment.

Inaccessible customer service

I was charged $244.30 for damage to a rental, $194.00 for the repair and an additional $50.00 for the vendor they used to collect the money. I paid promptly.

To receive reimbursement from my credit card company, I need an itemized list of repairs and a final repair bill. I was referred to the Hertz Claims Office in Dallas (1.800.227.9976).

I've called on numerous days, different times of the day, and always the phone rings endlessly or disconnects me without even an apology for atrocious service. I've submitted forms, even mailed them my request. The Claims Department remains inaccessible. It is infuriating not even to receive a reply.

This is probably the worst customer I've experienced. There are too many alternatives to continue suffering Hertz' insufferable service.

Their strength is to avoid answering questions.

Weakness:

Knoxville rental office charged us for 3 days, only had car for 2. Charged us for double the miles when their paperwork showed no mileage when the car was delivered. Have made 8 phone calls to different offices. Each one says to call another location or they can't help.

Be very vigilant with your paperwork before paying. They will bill you for extra that you don't receive. We are contacting the BBB in Knoxville to file a complaint. Rented the car November 30,2012, this is January 7, 2013

I have been trying for two weeks to get a simple answer from Hertz on a car rental. I have sent numerous emails from their website and get a confirmation saying I will get an answer in 3-5 days. As I said, it has now been two weeks and as far as I am concerned, they will never see me at their place if that is the level of, or lack of service. If they can't answer a simple email, they are obviously not going to look after you or their cars.

We were charged the full amount of our rental after not picking up the car and attempting to change our reservation. Essentially charged two weeks worth of charges for one week's rental.

This is a review of Hertz Rental Car

Weakness:

Company routinely screws over it's customers.

I was billed an extra $300 for a rental car I used for a total of 3.5 hours. It was returned in the same condition I got it, with a full tank of gas.

My husband rented a Hertz car for three days but was charged for 12. After waiting on hold for 25 minutes I reached a very helpful customer service rep who checked the facts and credited us for the $422 discrepancy. So I have two beefs: being overcharged by more than $400 (good thing I pay attention to the bills) and having to wait 25 minutes to talk to a human being, along with listening to a recording telling me how important I am to Hertz. Customer service is clearly not a core competency.

Poor attention to customer service by virtue of long hold times AND an on-line "chat" system that, after I waited about five minutes for an agent, advised they don't handle billing questions. Extremely frustrating and leaves the impression that customer service is a low priority.

Weakness:

Reserved a rental car through Hertz. When I arrived to pick it up at the airport they did not have ANY car available, even though they acknowledges that I had reserved a vehicle several weeks in advance. Staff was overwhelmed and unable to cope with a very difficult situation obviously thrown at them by somewhere higher up. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again.

Do not rent a car from Hertz.

The car was ready for pickup at the selected time.

Weakness:

Had to pay 600 euros for warranty.
Had to walk 1km to get to the car.
Got robbed and even i returned the car with a full tank and provided a receipt i was forced to pay 41 euros extra for gasoline.
Overall the worst car rental company out there with many hidden charges and awful customer support.

I had a confirmed AAA reservation for $780.34 to rent a car for 13 days from Hertz in Phoenix. The reservation meant nothing. There was no car for me and I was quoted $1103.71 to get out of there and make a 1 PM appt. I brought back the car early and was billed. $1075. Outrageous!
